"We had a very comfortable stay. The only downside was that our room was on the second floor, and we didnโ€™t realize there was no elevator. Carrying our suitcases up and down the stairs was quite difficult."

Candeo Hotels Utsunomiya

Candeo Hotels Utsunomiya

8/10 Good
"A Convenient and Comfortable Stay in Utsunomiya Whenever I visit Utsunomiya, I always choose Candeo Hotels Utsunomiya because of its unbeatable location. It's directly connected to Utsunomiya Station, making it incredibly convenient whether you're arriving by train or heading out for the day. The room is spacious enough to fully open large suitcases, which is something I always appreciate. I especially like the long daybed by the windowโ€”it provides a comfortable place to relax, read, or simply enjoy the view. The hotel is also connected to Utsunomiya Terrace, where you'll find a variety of restaurants and a supermarket, making meals and shopping extremely convenient. The hotel has self-service washers and dryers, and payments can be made through a phone app, which is very convenient. However, the dryers cost ยฅ200 for every 10 minutes, so doing laundry can become a bit expensive. Guests also have complimentary access to the Sky Spa on the top floor. While it's a beautiful facility, it's not a natural hot spring (onsen). During my three-night stay, I only visited it once because I found it more relaxing to soak in the bathtub in my own room rather than take the elevator up to the 14th floor. The breakfast buffet was enjoyable, with a good variety of choices. My only suggestion would be to provide trays, as it would make it much easier to carry multiple dishes and drinks in one trip instead of making several trips back and forth."

Kinugawa Onsen Hotel

Kinugawa Onsen Hotel

8/10 Good
"Unfortunately this property did not meet expectations and was grossly overpriced. The Japanese style room was very dated but a nice size. Good AC. The food was great and there were a lot of options. The property needed to be cleaned and updated. The area outside of the property is shocking. It is filled with abandoned buildings that are various states of disrepair. It felt unsafe. Transportation wasnโ€™t great. I booked the bus- which is said to be an amenity- only to learn we had to pay getting off. Good thing I had cash. People were nice but Iโ€™d never go back."

"The location was great Install translate before you go Ask for a bus timetable and the free tickets you get as part of your stay Uber does not work out near Nasu, no uber eats or car rides Install go taxi, it's there uber equivalent Food is scarce around the hotel so plan ahead and get food from the local shops, family marts are great, 7elevens are ok to If you eat at the buffet restaurant at the hotel you need to book it as part of the hotel booking. We did not and it cost me $214 (aud) for 2 adults and 1 child, we didn't know this ahead of time. The hot springs / baths are a no cloths zone, kids 6 and older and men and woman are just all in the same water together naked, nothing against there culture it just wasn't for me. There are claw machines absolutely everywhere in Japan so if your taking kids be sure to always have some coins on you, they range for 100ยฅ to 500ยฅ Nasu highlands park was amazing Nasu safari park was good, very small but pretty cool getting up so close with so many animals."

HOTEL NEWITAYA

"We stayed at HOTEL NEWITAYA for 3 nights and had a very enjoyable stay. The location is convenient, with the train station about a 10-minute walk away and bus links just 2 minutes from the hotel. There are plenty of amenities nearby, including FamilyMart, 7-Eleven, and several restaurants, making it easy to find food and essentials. The staff were friendly, helpful, and welcoming throughout our stay. The hotel was very clean and well maintained, and we felt comfortable during our visit. Considering the affordable room rates, it offered excellent value for money. Overall, a pleasant and convenient place to stay, and we would happily recommend it to other travellers."
