"The iconic Santa Monica pier is just one block away. This conveniently located boutique Hotel has a hip skater/surfboard, motif, but also an elegant bicycles are available to take on the beach. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. My only disappointment was that the pool was closed for maintenance, but they did give me a voucher to use a neighboring hotels pool. I was given a free breakfast coupon, but it was only for one particular item on the menu, which was not vegetarian. My suggestion would be to allow choosing any breakfast dish on the menu. The non-vegetarian was one of the most expensive things on the menu, so I would imagine that having a bowl of oats which cost less would not be an issue. For a hotel with a bicycle, skateboard, surfboard, motif, I think they should lean into the Health food a bit more other than that, I had a wonderful time and a great sleep in a very comfortable bed in a very well designed room."

"I used to stay here often a few years back. The location is great, but the age of the property is showing that they have not updated at all. Paper cups in plastic and lack of a trash can in the bathroom was inconvenient. I just took the room can to the bathroom. Staff in the West restaurant was friendly, but lacked enthusiasm. The views are great, but this spot has dropped a star (or two). Valet was professional and friendly."

"This is an absolutely gorgeous property. Very well situated for exploring Santa Monica and near all the amenities like beach, shopping restaurants, etc. Room is lovely and bed very comfortable and hotel is very quiet as well. The only slight problem we had was that we visited during an immense heatwave and the hotel has no air conditioning. It was okay for sleeping with the fans and windows open and I imagine this is a non issue any other time due to it's close proximity to the ocean. Loved that there was a kitchenette as well."

"Assorted carpets and upholstery showed signs of wear and tear. Overall, though, very comfortable and clean. Pillows were lumpy but bed, with a stylish fabric headboard, was blissful. Bathroom was spotless; great shower head. Water is precious in L.A., I know, but windows needed washing! Delicious morning coffee in the lobby. Super friendly staff. So a mixed bag of tricks. I would stay again but would hope for some more refurbishing."

"This is our 5th time staying at the Ambrose and is our go-to when we are visiting LA. he hotel has a boutiquey feel and is in a quiet area of Santa Monica but still close to everything. We enjoyed the daily happy hour offering complimenatry wine and beer and sitting in the relaxing outdoor patio. The indoor space is really nice too. The rooms are clean and spacious and the staff is very welcoming and helpful! We will be back!"
