Everything was perfect! Breakfast was amazing! The breakfast cakes to die for! Apple, Peach and Banana EXCELLENT! My mom told us about this amazing getaway! We so enjoyed it!
Fabulous place. Had an amazing stay. The Inn Keepers were great, breakfast was tasty and the view was gorgeous!! Definitely plan on coming back in the Spring.
Excellent place to stay. Beautiful environment, nicely decorated and kept. Very good breakfast. Owners (husband and wife) are extremely helpful and very interesting individuals. I had a very enjoyable one night stay and will return.
Lovely setting... Great location, breathtaking water views, very tranquil and relaxing
Friendly staff, beautifully furnished rooms, great attention to detail in everything
Would happily stay again!
The inn was wonderful. The three-course breakfast was the best that I've ever had at any hotel. The owner was very friendly and talked us about their experience around the world. Every room in the hotel is decorated with beautiful paintings and artworks from all over the world. The garden is peaceful and beautiful. We had a great experience.
Wonderful views of the water! Welcoming, interesting hosts and carefully appointed room. Open spaces decorated with fascinating art pieces. Very good breakfast! Only 2 hrs from DC with pastoral ride past historic sites.
We loved the house and grounds. On the water. Beautiful view of the sunrise out our bedroom window. Innkeepers are world travelers and have many stories to share. We’ll have to go back to hear some more. 10-15 minute drive from SMCM. Wonderful alternative to the Fairfield, Home2 and Comfort Inn.
Quite mixed. Lovely property and setting right on water. Very nice hosts though when I asked the man he said the fireplaces in room were shut off for season and he couldn’t control the unseasonably cold wether and the women walked with me to my room and turned up the thermostat in main area which indeed helped. Breakfast was customized and quite good. It would be nice to have afternoon snacks like fresh baked cookies or even something packaged. There was nothing. Also there is no housekeeping. They should point this out on website. Lastly, a huge pile of sheets and towels weee left outside our door for 24 hours I presume waiting to turn over the room next to us. Those should have been kept hidden. A little attention to a few details can turn this property into top notch!
Honestly was such a beautiful stay and location. me and my partner were trying to scheme ways to live there lol I am now trying to get my friends to come for the summer for a weekend get away. Will def be coming back.
What an amazing hotel! The location is perfect, the owners so so friendly. The staff so efficient and professional. The breakfast was the best. Definitely a 5 star hotel.
Everything about the Swanendele Inn was exceptional: the location, the accommodations, the facilities, the decor, the hosts, and, not least, the breakfast. In fact, you could spend several days just exploring the remarkable antiques and artifacts around the place. However, what made the strongest impression was the fiery glow of dawn though the pine trees outside our balcony every morning in the Margeret Brent suite. Rhododaktylos, "The rosy-fingered dawn": I never understood the true meaning of that phrase until I saw that.
Very beautiful Inn. The rooms are very clean and quiet. There are lots of sitting areas on the property, and a pier that you can walk out on to view the bay. The breakfast was wonderful. There is a small bar downstairs, but we weren't sure if it was in operation.
The check-in was a bit awkward. Hotels.com had listed that I would receive an email from the Inn within 5 days of my reservation. I never received an email from the Inn, so I emailed them and didn't hear back. I then called them and the mailbox was full. I located a different number on the Inns online reservations portal and was able to speak to one of the owners.
When we arrived at the Inn, it was a bit confusing on checking in. There was a gentleman outside that told us to go on in. So, we did and didn't see anyone at first, then this lady approached us and told us her name but didn't say anything other that her name. We didn't know if she was a guest or if she was there to check us in.
