Good apartment close to city centre (all places of interest walking distance). They have several apartments in the town & the one allocated may be different to what you see in pictures. However all apartments seem to be of good quality
Overall, I was pleased with my stay at the downtown apartments (Ingólfsstræti 8). It was very convenient for exploring Reykjavik and also perfectly located close to Bus Stop 6, where both airport shuttles and tour buses pick-up/drop-off. Restaurants and shops are also right down the street, as well as a grocery store across the street.
Because these are apartments and not a traditional hotel, it's self check-in. I found the instructions clear when it came to using the door code and then accessing your key in the security box. The biggest drawback of this was the lack of bag storage. My flight arrived in Reykjavik at 4am and I was stuck with my bag until check-in at 3pm. Perhaps a storage cabinet could be added outside of the 2 apartments?
When I did check-in, there was still dirty water in the sink and wet spots on the floor, but as a whole the apartment was clean. It was nice having a kitchen but I did not get to use it much. And while the apartment is fairly spacious, the bathroom is really small; therefore, it's difficult to shower without water spilling onto the floor. There was no floor mat in the bathroom and no extra towels; only a squeegee to try to push the water away from the toilet and back into the shower.
Normally I wouldn't mind not having daily cleaning service, but because of the wet floor in the bathroom and having only 1 towel for the entire stay, that was inconvenient.
Again, I was happy with my stay overall, but there's room for improvement.
The good things about this property were a) the location being near lots of restaurants and pubs; b) the size of the apartment; and c) the service I received on the telephone. The bad things were: a) the lack of greeting package that would show you how to work the TV (I am somewhat tech savvy); and b) the stairs up to the apartment were incredibly steep.

Need better upkeep
We stayed at Church View apartment. The location is superb. The unit itself is styled as Scandinavian so it is tastefully design. However, the place does not have proper upkeeping and maintenance. Firstly, the outer locks to enter the building is soo difficult to open (and we were afraid everytime we went out, we would be locked out and had to call a locksmith). Then, the door handle to enter the unit is almost broken so another scare to have. Overall, it is a nicely designed and located, but too bad it does not stay in a good shape due to lack of maintenance.
It appears we experienced a bait and switch scenario. The unit we booked based on the photos on the Expedia site was not the unit, nor the address where we stayed. What was supposed to be a bright and open apartment turned out to be a cramped hole in the wall. The location was great, but the unit was the pits. Moral of the story - check that what you booked is what the local company gives you.
Excellent location and well appointed inside the house, which made up for the shack looking structure. It was missing some basic stuff like dishwasher pods, extra trash bags, enough cutlery/pots/pans, leftover condiments/oil etc which one typically expects in an apartment (rather than a hotel room). However, I would recommend this place to friends and would stay here again.
I noticed the check-in instructions I received had a different address than the apartment I booked. Upon asking I was told we were switched due to technical difficulties. It would have been nice for someone to email me of this change rather than just putting a different address in the check-in instructions.
Thomsen Apartments is in a very convenient location. You can walk to everything. It was a bit cramped for 6 people. It had no elevator so we had to carry all our luggage up 4 floors.
Very run down building. Lot of street noise and bar noise. Did rent an apartment with a quiet location, but that was not true. We actually didn't use the apartment but checked in at downtown hotel!!!
Kivan kokinen siisti asunto hyvällä paikalla. Lähellä oli kaikki tarvittavat palvelut. Ovikoodit toimii hyvin.
The location was fantastic. It was so easy to get there from bus stop 8 and many things were close by. The only thing that was missing from the apartment was a bath mat and more toilet paper.
Despite glitches we'd stay at this apartment again
I received a prompt booking confirmation email for a different (& better) apartment address. Misleading. (The address issue was reported by 'Justin' in 01/07/2016).
Also received detailed access instructions but 'maid' locked street key inside building - doorbell u/s leaving us stranded on doorstep in blizzard & dark until after 30mins+ and several international calls to the emergency contact number provided) while our access was remotely sorted.
The street door lock proved temperamental (as previously reported by 'Erin' in 23/09/2017).
Bathroom tap/basin & kitchen tap/sink while very stylish were impractical (but for a short stay 'bearable'). Wardrobe space was limited as we were unable to open most of the doors.
Although I'm fairly technical I could not work out how to operate the TV system (a pity as we couldn't sample Icelandic TV, but not high on our priorities). Plethora of remote controllers for TV, set-top box, window blinds, kitchen hob fan/light and apartment lighting (not all covered in the apartment's otherwise comprehensive instruction booklet).
The apartment was well equipped and supermarkets conveniently close. Important for our February visit, the apartment was warm and comfortable.
Overnight parking for our rental car was easily found in the area close to Bus Stop #8.
The key test is if we were to re-visit Reykjavik would we again choose this accommodation - the answer is a unanimous 'yes', particularly if some of these 'minor' glitches were sorted.

Disliked: Staff & service
Great location, okay apartment, bad service
The apartment was not at all like the photos, rather old and not particularly fresh. However, locations was great! Not too much noise outside. We had trouble with the reservation, and did not experience good communication with the responsible person.

Abstellkammer bezeichen, ohne Fenster!
In der ganzen Wohnung gibt es keinerlei Möglichkeiten, Koffer ect. unterzubringen.
Wie man mit 5 Personen unterkommen soll, ist mir ein Rätsel.
Das einzige Positive ist die stylische Einrichtung.
Apartment 102 was perfect! Very easy to find with the information Thomsen sent prior to arrival. The living area, kitchenette and bathroom couldn’t have been better, they were very spacious and sat 4 very comfortably. Everything you needed for your stay including cooking utensils was provided, which meant we could have a lovely enjoyable night in. The bedrooms are quite small but to us that didn’t matter, there is no need for them to be any bigger!
Location is perfect! So close to downtown Reykjavik, walking distance to everything. I would definitely stay again!
The apartment was still being cleaned when I arrived at check in time, so I had to wait about 30 min until it was ready. It's a very minimalist space, but fairly quiet for only being up one floor. There's a small balcony off the rear of the apt overlooking residential backyards. The kitchen is a nice size for a couple of people prepping food. It's about an 8 minute walk from the apt to the downtown harbour, so a good option if you're looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of the main street. Bonus: it's only about 5 min from the Viking ship sculpture.
Excellent location and comfortable, clean apartment. Enjoyed the room but had a few issues: whenever the shower was running, it created a large leak in the middle of the kitchen floor; also, the lock on the door was a real issue and needs to be fixed. It was challenging to get both inside and out of the room.
