This is probably a story of "you get what you paid for", but this is a shabby hotel. It wasn't expensive, at about $25 a night but it has many obvious short-comings to the point that it would definitely make sense to stay somewhere else.
The best thing about this hotel is the location. It is conveniently located on a major thoroughfare (Fergusson College Road), close to many shops and restaurants. At the same time, the hotel is receded a bit from the road, offering a little shelter from the noise. That's the good.
Otherwise, the hotel itself is rundown, including flaking paint in at least our room (probably others). The tap in the sink in our bathroom was broken, requiring a lock-breaking style manoeuvre to open or close. Also, half of our mattress was had collapsed.
The hotel restaurant is an average Indian hotel restaurant. The one night we ate there, we were the only diners at around 7pm (should've been a clue to us). I had a very average biryani.
Very annoyingly, this hotel has one of the worst, essentially non-existent internet connections I've used anywhere. It wasn't working at all the first day, and then after, we were getting around 100kbps down, and the same up. Pathetic. They really should not advertise internet access.
In summary, a great location, but a poor choice of hotel on my part. Spend a little more for something nicer if you'll spend more than a day or two in Pune.
Ashiyana: you have a lot of maintenance work to do.
