I've been staying at this hotel for the past 4 years typically 3-4 times a year since my daughter attended Stony Brook University. This visit will be my last due to racial profiling from one of the staff member. As I was coming back to the hotel after dinner my teenage daughters and I were walking upstairs to our room and a young man who was the hotel security officer followed us up the stairs asking why we were there and what are we doing? We told him we're guest here and we're going to our room. I showed him my hotel key to prove that I was a guest. We can tell he was dumbfounded and apologized and said I'm sorry I was told to do this. I'm a middle age Asian woman with two daughters, he never gave me an explanation on why he had to follow us other than he was told to. I've never been more disappointed the dansford hotel should be ashamed. I was told from other guest that attends Stony Brook University that this is typical and they have a reputation of racial profiling.

I did get a surprise when I had to walk to another building and no one to help me with my bags. I found the steps up to the main reception desk did not have a ramp alternative which was a bit challenging . I would like to suggest that you get double glazed windows for the rooms facing the street as the street traffic in the early hours of the morning seemed to include people speeding noisily. Other than this , I was happy to be put in a nice clean spacious room . Thanks, SH

The room had a broken refrigerator, we called the desk 3x. The bozo at the front desk never called maintenance. They only gave 2 coffee pods. No tea no hot chocolate. It also stated it had a microwave in the room on Danfords websites It does not. So after paying 500.00 for meals, you can't reheat in the room. Also the Bozo at the desk gave me a key card and she wrote "BB" for the room, no BB so we called the desk and she just laughed at herself. It was B3, nothing like carrying our luggage up and down 3 flights of stairs looking for our room. Wasting our time for a working refrigerator. They really need to get a better staff

We have done an exhaustive search and could not locate anything stating we offer a microwave on our site or any of our partner sites as we want to ensure accuracy for our guests. Our staff is always willing to reheat things in our restaurant kitchen if needed and our Front desk is staffed 24 hours. We welcome the opportunity to discuss in further detail.

To begin with: we have arrived early, left my phone number by the receptionist that has promised to notify us when room becomes available. Never happened. Our room was nicely located across the main building, and advertised as a village view. That of course depends what someone understands as a village view. Our room was nice, comfortable at the first glance. After while I had noticed that bed skirt was literally pretty damaged and dirty on both beds. I took pictures to show at the reception. This hotel is apparently advertised as a resort hotel. Another issue was temperature. Unfortunately it was chilly May night, i wanted to bump up temperature to 76-78. After maintenance guy showed up he expected that a hotel owner wants to keep temperature at 74 and termostat is programmed for 74. We went for dinner, just to come back to find out that the hallway is much warmer than our room. Was not a point to complain again since they all ready send maintenance guy before. One more issue. As I mentioned earlier, my room has been advertised as a village view, which was fine depending on individual perspective what a village view is. The problem was: this room was overlooking a busy, actually a main road in PJ. That was not mentioned in hotels advertising. This is a very important. I could have chosen a different room, much quieter!!! You actually don’t feel much traffic till early morning when you want to sleep late and relax. This hotel should have consider to put this little detail .

Attention and service poor we sat at the bar and grill for 30 minutes nobody came so just walked away and when they cleaned the room they took all towels away never repleced the blankets on the bed.

Lovely place for an overnight stay. Parking was conveniently on-site, and location was close to shops and restaurants. Staff were welcoming and friendly. My family enjoyed the continental breakfast as there was something for everyone. The room was spacious with comfortable beds. The outside deck could use some upgrades and one of our windows did not lock, but we improvised a security measure while sleeping. There was a wedding reception on our day of check out, but I still received friendly service from the staff. Will definitely stay again!

The room itself was a nice size, and the hotel included a "free drink" coupon for the on-site bar which was a nice touch (and great bartenders!). Overall the location was nice, but there were some reasons I didn't list 5 stars: - Hotel parking is just municipal parking that is shared with nearby businesses and the marina, so we drove in circles for about half an hour before we were able to find a spot; once inside they indicated that paid parking was suspended by the town for now, but could be reinstated in the future - Our reservation had to be booked through Expedia because the hotel website wasn't working, but when we arrived they indicated that because our booking didn't come through their system our room had been given away. After about an hour of triaging, they were able to find a comparable room for us to use - The room itself was nice, but was located adjacent to the municipal parking with little noise reduction (so the bar letting out at 1 AM was right outside our window) - The bedroom window shades fell off in the middle of the night, allowing the street lights to flood the room Overall, my wife and I laughed off the number of inconveniences we encountered with this reservation, but I could see these having an impact on another person trying to book.

First off tried calling front desk multiple times and no one answers the phone.2 made reservations on line and dates were incorrect and needed to be addressed again no one answered phone.Finally talked to front desk and she had no authority to change reservation. The manager called and straightened it out said she would email confirmation and never did. Mind you I had told her I would be attending a funeral.So at that point I just arrived on Monday the 8th . Luckily the room was ready.Then I attended morning service for the funeral and come back to my room My wife and I were sitting ther and housekeeper just walks in No knock or anything. Are you kidding!Then as far as the condition of your establishment you should probably just burn it down and let a real Hotel rebuild it . I grew up in Setauket and lived in the area my whole life what a shame..

Beautiful part of the State, beautiful area, when I go to New York its for fun in the big city, but my wife is from Long Island and I have never seen where she grew up and she hasnt been back much in the past 35 years, so it was our 6th Anniversary and celebrated it with some of her old Friends and her Brother came from CT, which they have a ferry to and from, and its right by the Hotel, id definately go back, next time for a longer stay!!!
