"The property & room were great. Only problem is I booked through Expedia; I booked for 2 nights but could only make the 2nd night. I was fine with paying for the first night I didn't use because I was outside the cancellation window. But when I called (which took 3 tries to get past the unhelpful IVR systems... really, the automated system sucks) to tell them I wouldn't be there to check in the first night but to keep my reservation for the 2nd, they said, "Well, what's your Santa Ana itinerary number?" Well, I didn't get a Santa Ana #, just an Expedia #. They said I'd lose my 2nd night because I'd be considered a no-call/no-show. I'm like, "But I'm calling you now!" Nope, said to call Expedia. Well, Expedia was useless. So, I ended up driving 11 miles to check in for a room I didn't even need for the night just so I wouldn't lose - and pay! - for the 2nd night. Santa Ana must get tons of 3rd-party reservations, they should really try to coordinate better. That said, the room & property were great."

"I have traveled a lot lately and have been staying at Hilton Garden Inn’s but remembered a Sonesta ES Suites I stayed at in Chicago in 2024 and enjoyed so I decided to go with Sonesta bc it was closer to where my son moved to. I was a little disappointed when I saw the location and the overall property and there were visible signs of wear and tear. I shrugged it off the first night bc I was exhausted. I was unable to sleep well as the HVAC system would bang loudly before it come on, two bright blinking lights over the bed all night long, walls were thin and people were loud late at night, and there was a constant beeping off and on in the parking lot. Terrible experience and not relaxing at all. I ended up checking out early and booking a Hilton for my last night. "

"Beautiful place. They did keep messing up as they couldn't access the Hotels.com payment, so we had to pay a second time. We spoke to both folks at hotels.com and the hotel's manage, and we're hoping to get one of those payments back."

"Overall, our stay was good. The staff was very kind during check-in, and we really appreciated being granted a late checkout. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and welcoming. However, the morning of checkout was frustrating. Even though we were told our late checkout was updated in the system, staff attempted to open our door while we were still inside and sleeping. They even tried moving the door latch when we didn’t answer quickly enough. About 30 minutes later, they returned and banged on the door to tell us we had a late checkout — which we already knew. While the staff was generally nice, this felt very unprofessional and honestly uncomfortable. Having someone try to enter the room while we were asleep was not okay. I hope communication between staff improves so this doesn’t happen to other guests."
