"Excellent staff. Managed by someone who has been working there for decades. Very good refurbished rooms and pub food; both are very good value. Located in a quiet village - the opportunity of lovely walks on the doorstep is a bonus."
"Clean and lovely.
Hotel is a historic charm.
Do not expect corporate hotel, this is VERY old but delightful. There is no sound proofing, no even floors etc.
If you are dull and complain about minor traffic noise etc, do not even bother staying here.
This is a place for people who love history and appreciate the engineering of yesteryear.
Staff were helpful. "
"Staff were so lovely and welcoming. Dinner was really delicious, and served quickly, portions a great size. Breakfast equally lovely!
They’ve got a little outside area to enjoy a drink, and loads of parking. The village is really cute as well. Definitely staying again!"
"What a lovely hotel, staff were excellent. The hotel has a relaxing vibe and I would have no problem returning or recommending to anyway visiting the area"
"Lovely place to stay but probably for one or 2 nights. The menu doesn’t change and there are no “specials “ so you have limited choice if eating there each night. Breakfast good but the fruit mentioned didn’t appear.
The accommodation is up several flights of steps( we stayed with dogs) so your mobility has to be good "
"Deal with the lady who was very pleasant, not the guy who was quite abrupt and almost militant.
Initially when we entered our room it appeared clean, however there were cobwebs around light fittings. The bathroom sink was blocked caused by someone who must have shaved their head. When the sink filled with water lots of hair started coming back up the plughole into the sink. This was very unpleasant.
The shower was awful. The flow was really poor and trying to get the temperature right was extremely difficult to master. It was either scalding hot 1 minute and freezing the next.
The restaurant closed at 8pm, the actual pub closed at 9.30pm. We weren't aware of the pub closing time when we booked. I wouldn't choose to stay here again.
Room only for 1 night cost £116."
"The room was clean, warm and comfortable. The staff were helpful. Parking was in front of the hotel, off the main street. The village had a few shops and a large town nearby. The hotel has a river at the bottom of the grounds which was lovely to sit near."
