I stay away around 200 nights a year and this place is ok. Comfy bed Nice properly, but the staff are just woefully inept at hosting, I wasn’t offered an evening meal or breakfast. The bar staff are quite possibly the least friendly robots one can imagine. Then there is the traffic outside the rooms, staying on the ground floor close to bins, the bottle emptying goes on until 11pm and then the bin truck arrives 6 hours later in the early hours for recycling.. then you have to deal with the cleaners and general access from around 6:30/7 you just can’t sleep in the place, it’s too noisy.. it’s clean and a nice place - but is lacks everything else that makes a pleasant stay… and a good nights sleep, forget it, downstairs anyway…
Well appointed rooms and really well designed with some nice personal touches on arrival. Close to shops and restaurants. Parking at rear. Highly recommend would stay again
What an outstanding hotel, easy check-in, friendly staff, and an amazing restaurant with delicious food. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again, one of the best hotels we've stayed at for a long time.
Lovely boutique hotel with good dining. Helpful and friendly staff . Rooms well appointed and nice personal touches. In room coffee is quality brand and welcome gift topped it off!!!. Go there, it’s really worth it.
Stayed at the location for a trip to Newbury Races (Cost approx £10 in a taxi). Very good location with bonus of on site parking. Excellent bar and food choices. Easy walking distance to local pubs and restaurants. Would thoroughly recommend.
Stayed at the Coat & Bear while visiting Highclere Castle. I had a room with 2 beds and it was very spacious. The staff was very nice and the food at the pub was delicious. The town of Newbury is very nice and walkable and the hotel is only about a 10-15 min walk to the Newbury train station. I would definitely stay here again.
The dining room and food was excellent with service to match.
Rooms are extremely comfortable and beautifully decorated with every facility you could ask for. All staff were polite and attentive.
Would definitely recommend. Unbeatable location, beautifully kept inn with wonderful, helpful staff. Rooms were spacious, spotless, well furnished, quiet and comfortable.
Makes the case for a trip to Newbury!
The whole stay was amazing.
From the time we arrived with the friendly and helpful staff, to the really amazing room and ending the evening with some top notch food.
Will most definitely stay again.
