Took my money & provided no service!
I booked a bed here for June 28th and was unable to check into the hostel. It took 15 minutes to get the host's friend to open the door. I waited for 2.5 hours for any employee to show up and check me in, before leaving to find another place to stay. The hostel is not welcoming or tidy. The front of the building is covered in trash and debris including a machete and pick axes. There is a child's plastic table with a hookah that reeked of marijuana directly next to the front door on the sidewalk. The house number is spray painted on the front of the building. I didn't actually get to see it inside because the host NEVER arrived. But he certainly kept the $80 I paid for the privilege visiting this establishment. Hotels.com kept me on the phone for an hour and wasted my time when I tried to get a refund. The Funky Buddha is not a place ANYONE should stay at. It looks like a set from a horror movie and the host doesn't care about his business or customer's experience. Hotels.com also did not handle this properly. I was told that the company would try to make it right, but in the end, they basically told me I could use the service to book another room at my own expense. Thanks! In the end, I'm out $80 for room, $30 in cab rides and I missed the event I traveled to NYC to see because I had no place to stay on a busy weekend. Think twice before you book with Hotels.com and NEVER book your stay at the Funky Buddha!
