"A remarkable building, but still very much a work in progress Plas Glynllifon is an extraordinary place to stay. The building is genuinely impressive, full of history and character, and staying there feels very different from a conventional hotel. The welcome was friendly, the room was comfortable and breakfast was good. The setting is also excellent for exploring this part of North Wales. It is important to be realistic, though: this is still very much a hotel in development. Some of the facilities and infrastructure are not yet at the standard you would expect from a fully established hotel. During my stay the Wi-Fi was unreliable, there were no TVs in the rooms, and some parts of the property were clearly still being brought back into use. None of that spoiled my stay, because I knew I was staying somewhere that is being restored and developed rather than at a finished luxury hotel. In some ways it was interesting to see the building at this stage. There is no restaurant or bar at present, although there are places nearby. I particularly enjoyed Tyโn Llan, which is roughly a 20-minute walk away and was excellent for an evening meal. The real attraction here is the building itself and its potential. If the owners continue improving the practical side of the hotel while preserving its character, Plas Glynllifon could become somewhere genuinely special. I would stay again, but I would recommend arriving with the expectation that you are visiting a fascinating historic"

"The hotel is quaint and very friendly. It is especially dog friendly which many guests appreciated. Our room was large and comfortable with its own bathroom. Michelle our host was extremely friendly and accommodating. I had lamb shanks for dinner which was a huge serving and very delicious. My husband had the muscles and was left with enough room to finish my large serving. A walk through the lovely gardens ended our evening perfectly. The road up is narrow and not for the faint of heart."

"Had one of the apartments and it was very handy to have your own facilities; even had an Indian takeaway one night instead of a restaurant meal. Rather small and basic table/stools but generally very good"
