2/10 Terrible

"Hello, This situation is completely unacceptable. We evacuated our home and trusted your hotel to provide a safe place to stay, only to end up with bed bug bites. This is the last thing we should be dealing with during an already stressful time. We need a full refund immediately. I can provide pictures of the bites and any additional documentation you require, but this should not even be necessary given the severity of the issue."

"We loved the location and the staff was accommodating. The pool was small but clean and the kids enjoyed that. The room was a disappointment since the building is pretty old. The beds were comfortable, but that was the highlight. The bathroom looked old and looked as if they had put caulking over areas of mold or something. Also, it had a pedestal sink and just a small shelf above the toilet, so three girls trying to do hair and makeup was a challenge. Absolutely no counter space in the bathroom. Also, they have a fridge but no microwave. Breakfast was ok but the only hot item was the waffles. Hotel desperately needs updating."

"Unless you book an oceanfront room don’t bother booking a room here. Staff is rude, unwelcoming. The rooms are outdated, there was duct tape covering cracks on the floor. NOTHING like the pictures on their website. Check Yelp, you will see more accurate, up to date pictures. No elevator, so be prepared to carry your luggage up and down the stairs. Valet parking only, when your car is parked closer to your room than the valet, which is silly. Some of the reviews I read mentioned they give you a pass to the gym down the street, I asked about it and they don’t offer any passes. :/ The view if you do book an oceanfront room is amazing, but considering everything else I will not be staying here again."

Sonesta Select Laguna Hills Irvine Spectrum

"I had a horrible experience during memorial day weekend at Sonesta Select in Laguna Hills. It seems there was some chemical/gas leak that happened in OC that weekend, so when I arrived at 3:30PM on Friday for check-in, I was denied a room on time when check-in was for 4PM. When I walked in, someone who appeared to be the manager already looked in distress and had an angry face and didn't bother to greet me. The other person was assisting a couple and that already seemed to take a long time. I couldn't quite understand why my check-in was delayed considering I booked this way in advance, but they claimed that due to evacuation status for those affected by the chemical leak, they had customers in at 2AM and were granted a late check-out time.. This apparently pushed my check-in time and I was told they would call me when a room was available. Since I booked through Expedia, they apparently didn't have my phone #. The lady asked for my phone # and I waited 4 hours only to receive no call. I showed up by 8PM to find out the lady got my phone # wrong... I was finally granted a room.. This experience sucked, and yes, I did call their hotel early and no one picked up the phone."
