Mumbles Pier

8.8/10 (256 reviews)
One of Swansea’s most recognisable landmarks, the imposing Victorian pier on the southwestern corner of Swansea Bay holds both historic value and offers an entertaining way to pass the afternoon. Once a favoured haunt of Dylan Thomas, this iconic attraction in the village of Mumbles now plays host to tourists and locals out to enjoy themselves.

Oystermouth Castle

8.4/10 (36 reviews)
Oystermouth Castle occupies a particularly atmospheric vantage point, on a tall limestone ridge that enjoys sweeping views out over Swansea Bay. Built of Norman stone during the 12th Century, it sadly fell into disuse and disrepair from the Middle Ages onward, after a turbulent history, and in paintings it was often portrayed as a romantic ruin, pleasant to look at, but of little interest besides. Now all of that has changed.

Somerfield Lodge

8/10 Good
"Overall a good experience for the price. Rooms are all twin rooms to accommodate golfers on play and stay packages which doesn’t always suit couples but the beds were comfortable. Don’t try the restaurant except for breakfast which was freshly cooked by a really nice chef who was more than happy to cook my wife a gluten free veggie breakfast. The bar is a decent size and has a large projector TV for watching football and a full sized snooker table. The lodge overlooks the golf course but don’t get rooms 5 or 6 if you want views out of your window as they only have velux windows that are high up. Lovely views whilst having breakfast though."

"Great location, price and staff. Parking too. We had a room for 3 adults but only had two towels and there was no hot water from the shower. The kettle also didn’t look the cleanest and had limescale. It’s perfect if you want cheap and cheerful for a night out but if you want comfort or are taking older family and friends it misses those final touches"
