Great quiet place. Only thing lacking was that the front desk didn’t open until about 8:30 in the morning , so had to wait to get coffee or hot water for tea before heading out for the day.

I was expecting a free breakfast as advertised but there was only tea and coffee. There are no USB ports for devices. The paint around the edges of the baseboards were peeling away. I ran out of hot water after 2 minutes in the shower. On the plus side, the girl who checked me in was kind and brought new linens to the room after a spill on the bed. This hotel was given an 8 rating on Expedia which is way over-rated. Common amenities, such as USB ports, fully painted walls, the advertised breakfast and hot water, should come with a highly-rated room.

The room was very comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay. Our one "complaint" was that it was a very windy stormy night. The wind blew down the fireplace vent and kept blowing against the fireplace screen which made a large banging noise since the screen was free swinging.. We had thought it was an issue with sheet metal on the roof and lived with the noise until early morning when we discovered the noise was coming from within the room itself: the fireplace screen.

Deer Haven Inn is a nice quiet property for a bit of respite from the rest of the world in Pacific Grove. It's convenient and close to many of the local attractions. The staff is wonderful. They are friendly, efficient, and very personable. However, it is a fairly old property that looks like it has gone through some renovation and it's extremely noticeable. Items inside the room such as the attraction guides and explanation of the property has been used multiple times and it could use a bit of reprinting. The pages were falling out. I understand the need to recycle but maybe a little lamination would make it more neat. Cracks and rust are noticeable and a little attention to them could boost it up a level. It's a good property. However for the price, especially for Friday night, it will be scruntinized before booking.

Hotel was super cute. Staff was very sweet. (Our room wasnt ready at check in, but the front desk clerk literally left the desk and went to talk to the housekeeper herself to get ours ready asap). Room was clean and literally the most comfortable bed Ive ever slept on. Fireplace was so nice. Easy to walk to beach and lighthouse. Had a wonderful time.
