"Extremely good experience at Horwood House. Everything from the greeting at reception to housekeeping was faultless. Stayed in a deluxe king room which was as expected but above all, very clean and well maintained. Would stay again if in the area. They had the most attentive and polite staff I've ever encountered in a hotel. "

"We had a lovely stay. The room and bedding’s were clean. Staff was helpful. The breakfast was delicious but the same menu everyday which did get tiring after a while. Only issue was the sound from the Aircon which kept going off and on through the night. Other than that we’ll definitely be coming back when we’re in the area"

"Walked into the hotel room and within 5 minutes the cupboard door in the bathroom had fallen off, the TV wasnt working, we werent given tea or sugar, only coffee and sweet teas, our friends had booked a separate room and their tap wasnt working and their sink wouldnt hold water, werent given any towels aside from a hand towel, we went to reception as we were unable to contact anyone successfully. The guy at reception told my friend she was using the tap wrong without even seeing it, and came to our room and pushed the screw in with his fingers and said that will do for now, saying they couldnt do anything more, told us that our friends didnt knoe how to use the tap and then when he went to inspect their tap, admitted there was something wrong but they couldnt do anything to fix it til monday so they gave them bottled water to wash their hands with. We were told if we need anything to go to reception at any time, yet when we went down at 6pm for tea, were told that the bar is a separate entity and reception is closed until 9pm when a separate office is available for bottled water only. Then when it came to check out, it was supposed to open at 7am, so we went and waited outside until 7:45 til someone turned up to check us out, making us very late for our event. I WOULD NEVER recommend this hotel. Looks lovely online, but is falling apart, even the lake view they boast about, is covered with dangrous fallen trees and branches and broken ornaments, RUN AWAY!!"

"Incredible price per night £22. But only one shower towel for 2 guests and shower stacked at 38 degrees - boiling hot, unusable. No rubbish bin in the room, only one bathroom bin. "

"Positives: Lovely staff at reception, clean room, comfortable beds. Fairly quiet but we were at the end of the hall. Negatives: Our room was too hot, even though it was quite cool outside. There was an A/C unit, but it was quite loud so we eventually turned it off. The lock on the bathroom door was presumably faulty and had been removed. Cheap toilet paper you would not expect at a 4* hotel. We paid half board but the restaurant staff had not been made aware of this and it was very unclear what was included. We booked as an adult and child and Hotels.com did not make clear on booking that the half board price was for one adult and 0 children. This should be made clear when presenting the available options as it seemed value for money but was not. We ended up sharing a two-course evening meal (which was very nice) and in the morning had a quick breakfast of awful coffee (this really needs to be improved) and a lovely croissant, as most of the other buffet food looked past its best."
