"This hotel is perfectly located within 3 minutes’ walk of the old town. It’s set back from the main row at the front and has spacious grounds with a good sized swimming pool. There’s a good restaurant on site, and a pool-side bar which also serves food. The rooms are clean, spacious and light, with the best ones overlooking the pool and garden. Those overlooking the road at the back can be a bit noisy. Staff are very friendly and helpful, giving lots of information about the town when you arrive. Laundry was reasonably priced and efficient. There is a very good choice of food for breakfast, catering to both Asian and western tastes. There’s also a small gym, and a book swap. "

"I will absolutely stay here again. Everyone was extremely accommodating. Location was perfect overlooking the river. Walkable to Old Town and pretty much everything. Bikes available, too. The only things that I wish were better were the WIFI in my room (working occasionally, so you have to go to the lobby area to get a stronger signal), and the ability to take a longer hot shower. Hot water was available, but in limited amounts for the shower. But well intentioned, of course, for preservation reasons. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel as an option. Huge room too with a nice balcony. Staff was incredibly helpful throughout with great restaurant suggestions. Got drop off/pickup laundry done there, too. "

"The hotel staff was so incredibly supportive and helpful during our 3 night stay. The room was large and comfortable and the area felt very quiet and safe. You can see the area around the hotel is still recovering from the flooding but that didn’t affect our experience at all. We are the epitome of showing up without plans so meeting Ruby at the front desk was delightful! She helped up book day trips, shows, dinners and massages! We loved every minute at the Gem and would definitely stay there again! "

"Everything from the moment we arrived was wonderful. Location was perfect for us as we only had 24hrs to get tailoring completed. Easy walk over the bridge to Markets and Tailor shops and an amazing Bahn Mi shop. Wish we had longer, could have spent 3 days easily. A great inclusive breakfast too. "
