Get engrossed in a good book or doze the afternoon away while you enhance your tan at peaceful Meloneras Beach. Swim in the sea or take a seat at one of the beach bars and enjoy a refreshing drink and a tasty local meal.
The small town of Meloneras moves at a much slower pace than many of Gran Canaria’s other busier resorts.
Take a gentle stroll to the east end of the bay where you can view the towering structure of Maspalomas Lighthouse. The sea here is usually calm and gentle during the summer, making it a great place for a swim. Rent a snorkel and mask and look for sea life around the rock pools or simply swim out and admire the view back toward the bay.
Once you have worked up a thirst, make your way to the long line of beach bars set just a few yards from the sand. Enjoy a beer in the shade or a fruity cocktail as the sun goes down. When you get hungry, walk along the beachfront and you will find an array of restaurants with menus offering tasty tapas, paella and a range of international dishes.
Meloneras Beach stretches out in front of the town. Make the short walk to the east to find the larger resort of Maspalomas. Farther along, Playa del Inglés is easily accessible by car. Meloneras Beach is a 45-minute drive from Las Palmas. Find accommodation in one of the luxurious waterfront hotels and self-catering apartments in town.
