At one time, a railroad trestle carried the tracks over Raccoon Creek.

The Moonville Rail-Trail, a sixteen-mile #hiking trail comprising the abandoned railway inside the Zaleski State Forest.

About all that remains of Moonville is an old railroad tunnel. The town sprang up in the late 1800's because of the Marietta and Cincinnati railroad building through the uninhabited forest on its way to Cincinnati.

The coal town's population peaked at just over one hundred. The last family left town in 1947. By the 1960s most of the buildings were gone and only the tunnel survives today.

"Upon arrival we were so blown away by the beauty of the cabin we decided to inquire and book an extra night as 2 nights just would not be enough time. We spent our first night soaking in each other and soaking in the hot tub. Day 2 we visited the sauna pods and booked a professional photography session which lead to a proposal! Then we enjoyed a unique romantic dinner at Glenlaurel (it’s a must try). Our last day was filled with hiking, visiting the Hocking hills winery, deer watching, sitting by the fire pit, and one last dip in the hot tub. We came here after being apart for 3 weeks and left as fiancé. It was our first time visiting and definitely won’t be our last. Love the memories made!"
