"We were only here for a week, but from the time we arrived to check out, we had an amazing stay. The staff and amenities are top notch. The beach is amazing with lots of vendors if you wish to buy from them. There's always fairly large surf waves coming in from the pacific, so use your discretion if you want to try swimming. The five pools and two swim up bars are great for spending afternoons meeting people from all over. The convenient hamburger, hotdog and taco stands by the pools is really handy. The food and entertainment was top notch as well. The numerous restaurants and nightly entertainment kept us happy and satisfied the whole time. A big shout out to Sergio and Roman at La Tres Islas for their awesome service and smiles the whole time we were there. We enjoyed amazing daily sunrises and sunsets as well. "

"Stayed here 4 years ago & it was great. Hotel has gone down hill. 2 large pools were drained & under construction for 10 of 14 days. Constantly had to ask for water, coffee, toilet paper, face cloths & Kleenex. Was told to refill my 2 water bottles on 3rd floor. Hotel needs maintenance… lock feel off toilet door so hubby fixed. Patio lock fell off & never got fixed … same happened @ our friends room. 3 couples & we couldn’t access their floors as key was for lobby, 3rd floor pools/restaurant & our floor. Only positive was our maid. She was awesome!"

"The property has lots to offer. We had an ocean view room and enjoyed sunsets every night. We had breakfast at the hotel every morning and enjoyed the buffet and made to order omelets. Close to lots of restaurants and shops"

"Been to this resort 8 times over the past 14 years, for a reason. The service is great, the food is good, very good at the a la cartes. THIS time however, and this is the reason I will not go back again - the hotel allows mexican bands on the beach to play if someone hires them. Which in the past was fine - they would play a few songs and move on. What has changed is they now have amplifiers and speakers, which DRAMATICALLY increases the volume. As well, they basically played for 4-5 hours straight, ALL AFTERNOON (from 1-5 pm), EVERY DAY!! It was beyond annoying! You could hear it CLEARLY from our room on the fourth floor, to the point we could not have a siesta if we wanted to, and the trumpets and tuba was SO loud. Every Day. 4-5 hours. Other hotels have signs on the beach prohibiting guests from hiring these bands. The El Cid should seriously consider this, because if they don't, I will never book there again."

"The ocean view from our room was spectacular. A/C worked well. We did have two days without hot water. One or two lights didn't work, but enough did. The staff was in all areas were excellent. "

"Beautiful view Very dated rooms. Upgrades would enable staff to clean more effectively. Not to the level of resorts in its category. The grounds are beautiful and well kept, but the rooms have not been. The food was excellent. The buffet was just a buffet, but that's not my preferred choice of food. Well, the other on the property was wonderful. Pool bartenders were awesome. "
