Lovely, quaint and quirky building. Rooms were lovely and a roaring fire downstairs. Friendly place with regular locals. A comfortable night's sleep, fantastic breakfast and evening meal. Staff very friendly and care about your approval and enjoyment. Will definitely go back and stay when we're in the area again. Would totally recommend this Inn
We stayed for 2 nights meeting up with my brother and sister-in-law. Good location near Matlock and Cromford Mill Centre. A warm welcome from the landlord and his team. Our compliments to the chef A small but balanced menu to suit all tastes/requirements. Portions generous - we particularly recommend the steak and potato pie! A good, freshly cooked breakfast too.
Our rooms were comfortable although maybe a little tired. An ideal reasonably priced weekend stop.
Absolutely brilliant, Great environment - a very traditional pub, great friendly and helpful staff, brilliant food which was adapted for my wife's gluten free diet, and generally a very relaxing and pleasant break. Would love to visit again.
Stayed for one night and would definitely recommend. A warm welcome on check in - even as far as showing us to our room. The room was small but perfectly adequate for a one night stay and our bed was very comfortable. We had our evening meal in the restaurant, the food was lovely, as was breakfast.
This pub is in a great location. Check in was quick and straightforward.
My room was comfortable.
Despite us declining a table for dinner, they were able to fit us in later (and our 3 friends) when our plans changed, which was really appreciated.
Lovely country pub/hotel in the village of Lea, close to Matlock. Our room was spotless & comfy. The owners and staff were friendly and gave us excellent recommendations of places to visit. The food was great, although I wish there were more than one vegan option ;-) I highly recommend this place.
We were made to feel very welcome & it was so kind of them to allow us to park our motorbikes out of sight from the main road.
The evening meal was delicious & we were very well looked after.
We found the Jug and Glass Inn to be amazing. The area was picturesque our first journey to Derby. We can’t wait to go back.
The staff were fantastic all of them.
Food was great with plenty of choices. Wine and beer prices were well priced and enjoyed by us
Rooms were clean and tidy. We found the old sprung mattress a little uncomfortable.
Our room was quite basic but we did see nicer rooms so think we were just unlucky. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely hot shower and the breakfast was really good.
My wife and I stayed at the Inn when we attended a friends wedding.
The inn staff were very welcoming, and the check in was simple and the room was well appointed.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
The breakfast was excellent, both in terms of food quality and range of options.

Overnight in Derbyshire
Good overnight stop with great beer and a good breakfast.
The trip was not so good, we booked two rooms two nights as a base to spend 3 days in the Peak District. The rooms we stayed were no 4 & 5 on the 3rd floor of the attic/ loft with low limited head rooms over the bed and bathroom, I hit my head few times in the bathroom and the ceiling was so low the we could sit on the bed watching TV or checking mobile phone before sleep. The temperature in the room was so hot even at night in summer as they are in the attic, couldn’t sleep well even with the fan on and window open. The location is good in a quiet village outskirt Matlock close to Chatsworth house. Full English breakfast was well prepared and served by the Chef, his service was excellent!!!
No one changed the towers and replaced toiletries on the 2nd day for room 5.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay although it was for only 1 night, the room was clean and the bed comfortable. Excellent shower but could do with a hand rail. Breakfast was excellent.
It pains me to leave a poor review, but I cannot justify better. Issues that i have since found in reviews from 2019 are still not fixed - Loose tiles on the bathroom floor and toilet roll holder coming off the wall. On top of this the first issue with the room was the lock not working correctly. This was at least swiftly fixed so the door locked, but it was still difficult locking and unlocking the door during the stay! The first visit to the ensuite was not pleasant as there was a 'floater' in the toilet, which suggests that it had not been cleaned properly after the previous guest had stayed otherwise this would have been picked up on! The room itself was very small... not even room for a wardrobe or proper closet. It was a struggle getting round the bed on two sides! The hotel did have a residents entrance and although this was open on the way out, on returning it had been shut and the lock was broken so you could not use it. Breakfast was so so ... the choice of fruit juice, cereal, toast and cooked breakfast was adequate, but the extent of a cooked breakfast to just bacon, sausage, fried egg and tomato was very limited ...no option for baked beans/hash browns/mushrooms/black pudding/fried bread. On top of this the over riding taste from the breakfast was the oil the eggs were cooked in which was not very pleasant! All staff encountered were very nice it has to be said, a fan was left in the room to assist cooling on the hottest day of the year which was good
We only stayed 1 night to celebrate one of our daughters birthday but we would definitely stay again
Breakfast was lovely - enough choice
Room was spacious and clean - a fan may have been useful in the top floor room as it was a very warm night
Service - excellent & friendly from check-in to breakfast service - it's obviously a well liked local pub & restaurant
