It is an old hotel living off its reputation from the 1940s. The carpet hasn’t been change since Salazar was alive. One rug in the first room that I stayed in had an ancient poo on the carpets. The outdoor pool was freezing. If you have kids, they can’t use the heats indoor pool. Avoid. Even the staff described the place as a circus and uncaring for the guests.

Exquisite hotel and stay
Luxurious and spacious room, excellent grounds and pool and all round fabulous experience at this famous hotel. Lots of little touches throughout that made this a 5-star experience. Staff were all eager to please, in particular it was a pleasure to meet Jose Diogo on the concierge who was the ultimate gentlemen and helped us to arrange a taxi back to the airport. Die-hard James Bond fans will know who this is. My partner and I can’t wait to one day return to the Hotel Palacio.
