The location is perfect. 5-minute walk from a major subway station and 15 minutes from Gion.There are tons of restaurants within a block. Exquisite details on the room. Best hotel I stayed in Japan out of the 5 hotels I stayed on. Highly recommended.

My wife and I (both late 40s) and our 22yo son stayed in a Japanese Suite on the 3rd floor for 5 nights. We came from the US and landed in Tokyo, so from the time we woke up to go to the airport, went to our layover in the US, landed in Tokyo, then bullet trained to Kyoto, it had been somewhere around 25 hours. So, it was very nice when as soon as we walked in about 7pm a very welcoming employee was saying hello as soon as the door opened. He asked if we were checking in and brought us right to the kiosk and checked in for us. We were tired and hungry, put our bags in our room, came back down, walked right across the narrow street and ate pizza and pasta at a little Italian place up the stairs before settling in. There was plenty of room for the 3 of us and it was in full Japanese theme which was very cool. There were shoji screens for all the walls and doors. A separate area where you walk in for clothes and shoes and suitcases. You can close off the room where the two large beds were from the living room area (tv in both rooms). The bed was very hard based on what we are used to and the pillows were a bit too soft but they offered to bring up different memory foam pillows if you want them. Great water pressure in the shower! The breakfast buffet had a good selection and we ate there every morning. The only issue with the buffet was the "scrambled" eggs. They were essentially just liquid with a few mushy egg bits. Definitely not what we would call a scrambled egg. But no

In the heart of old Kyoto. Perfect location. Breakfast buffet, dinner IN hotel was limited to Saturday. No mater, plenty of dinning choices around area. Hotel made reservation for us at a great classic Japanese resturaunt. Terrific experience.

Good location for bus transportation, food and shopping ( e.g. Uniglo is across the street. Property design very contemporary and innovative, e.g., using an assortment of magnetic tiles to message daily housekeeping room cleaning service requests. Buffet breakfast included steak and eggs. Downside was very small room size without a chair or table.
