Not worth it
Bed was hard, bathroom moldy and outdated, breakfast was terrible, restaurant staff very rude. Just spend a few extra money, and stay next door at Sugar Marina Art

Nice location good staff.
Very nice staff and a pool that lived up to expectations and the photos! Lots of restaurants close by and of course the Beach is close and fantastic!

Very relaxing hotel
A very thoughtfully designed hotel with a decent swimming pool and pleasant gardens with mini waterfall features adding to the relaxed atmosphere which also had pleasant bird song.The service from reception was excellent from the start,the breakfast was very Good with European and Asian choices.Room was comfortable and poolside bar prices every reasonable for beer and light meals.Within walking distance of decent bars and restaurants as well as the beach.Very quiet although live bands played not far away.

The hotel location is great if you want to stay in Karon but car parking very limited. The staff were all very pleasant and the room quite good. There was a lot of sand on the floor of the bedroom which is not so nice. One of the curtains was hanging down which I repaired and then it was ok. The hotel was good for the price.

Well priced comfortable stay in Karon
Comfortable place stay with out many frills and reasonably priced. Centrally located and very close to the beach. Did not find the staff very friendly, however they attended to requests efficiently. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Had a large pool that I did not use as I preferred to swim in the sea. I would exclude the breakfast in the booking as it was not great and there are plenty of cafes nearby for breakfast

Close to the beach, gross hotel
This hotel is close to the beach but it is not a resort by any means. We had a late arrival and our room was guaranteed which was nice. However, upon arrival the employee at the desk barley talked, mostly grunted. We asked him about a few services the hotel offered and he said they didn't offer it yet there was posters advertising these services around the hotel. Our double bed was two twins pushed together. Over everything the thing that I was most annoyed with was the dirty bedding. One pillow had an obvious blood stain and the sheets had yellow brownish stains. The towels were also old and stained. I had to ask the employee at the front desk for new sheets (I offered to change them myself) and he just moaned and insisted that they were just changed. To his benefit he changed the bedding (I helped) but had the worst attitude from the very beginning.

big failure
the hotel has an awesome location as it is 3 min away from the beach besides that this hotel needs A LOT of improvement. Our air conditioner didn't work since they gave us the room. the cealing of the room was full of filtrations and the shower didn't drained and as no body speaks english it was mission impossible to have someone to fix it instead we used twizzers to take the bathtub plugged and be able to shower. Beds in thailand are usually hard but the pillows were more like rocks. They never cleaned the bathroom hardly they did the bed. Most of the times we also had to ask them to clean the room because they would usually not do it. There is a HUGE rat that seems to live in the lobby!! and you can see it crossing from the lobby to where the fountains are multiple times in the day. I don't know how are the other rooms but we never had interner in the room. The only area were the wifi works is at the lobby.

Really nice place to stay. Perfect location, near the beach, shops, bars. Staff amazing and friendly. Pool is great. Breakfast was very good, though a little more variety would be welcome. Halfway through a relaxing holiday and have extended my stay here due to location, staff, price, pool and just being in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

Excellent location is the only real plus
Location is close to the beach and to restaurants and nightlife. Most rooms face the pool and nightlife noise is not a significant issue for those rooms. Rooms and beds were just OK. First 3 of 5 days no wifi. The whole Soi was out. Once back on it was OK sometimes and impossibly slow others. Included breakfast follows the normal routine but quite low in terms of quality and variety. When I was there it was sunny every morning and cloudy/raining in the afternoons. As a result I went to the beach every morning and came back to the hotel each afternoon. Each morning I put out the sign asking for the room to be made. Each day housekeeping showed up about 2:30 PM wanting to make up the room. Needless to say it did not happen. Room for improvement to say the least.

Great location near the beach and restaurants. Happy friendly staff. Breakfast was a surprise as you never knew what would turn up. Lasagne or Mc cheese. The only thing I will say is breakfast is until 10.30am but if you turn up after 9am the food isn't always replenished.

This was my third visit to the Karon Whale Resort Hotel (2003,2016 and 2017) and my seventh visit to Karon Beach,I personally love it there,the weather was between 30 & 38 degrees for the month I was there,the staff were very friendly and always smiling,nothing was too much trouble and the hotel is just off Patak Road which is the main road up through the town from the beach which is about 300yds away,Patak Road is about 80yds from the entrance to the hotel and very busy but you don't hear the traffic noise at the hotel,an ideal location for someone who wants to 'get away from it all',there is a lovely pool with a poolside bar which supplies snacks and drinks,the beer is cheaper than most bars which is unusual but welcoming,a lovely size large/king sized bed and very comfortable which gives you a good nights sleep.

Lovely clean pool to swim in, and private shower an toilet near pool, tea and coffee making in the room, beds very comfortable. Breakfast was good, but not much hot food choice for a vegetarian.

What to say about the hotel..... There are many areas where the overall standard of the hotel could be improved with a little additional effort from the hotel staff. All of the staff that we came into contact with gave the impression that they were only willing to do the minimum required at any time and really didn't care. The food put out for the buffet breakfast was poor and the staff appeared to be very lax when putting out new food or cooking with many of the food trays empty. Hygiene in the food area didn't appear to be a major concern as I observed one of the staff tipping the remains of the breakfast fruit juice over the handrail onto the ground below where there was a small garden / fish pond. The area didn't appear to have been deep cleaned for some time and parts of the hotel appeared tired. The hotel has the potential to be very good with more effort from the management and staff.

Don't trust that bad reviews.
We were a little apprehensive coming here after reading some bad reviews but don't take them to heart. Friendly staff, clean rooms, clean pool and 2 min walk to the beach. Don't be put off by the bars leading up to the hotel, they are a good mix and don't bring in the party crowd.

If you can get a room around the pool word is quieter then it's a nice place don't get a room facing out to the main road. The swimming pool area is excellent and they have pool service for good prices

Lovely hotel
This is a lovely hotel, there's nothing to not like about it. The room was a good size very clean we had a pool access room. The pool is a good size and well kept, there was always sun beds available. The staff were friendly and pleasant always spoke as you passed. All in all we had a lovely time in a lovely hotel in a fantastic location. I would recommend this hotel.

Good place to stay for some R&R
Good place to stay. Rooms are clean and it's near everything. The front desk employees do not speak English, but with gestures and simple phrases they go out of their way to help customers. They are polite and try very hard to make you happy. When you check out, they send housekeeping to your room to make sure everything is in tact! Breakfast was OK, we did try to eat lunch once there, and it was awful...we had to since we were waiting for an afternoon tour. Stay away from their restaurant for anything other than breakfast! The night life is more family oriented on Karon Beach. Not much for singles and young couples, other than dinner and some live music at a pub. Overall, good place to stay if you do not want the noise and party life of Patong Beach!

A good choice
Overall I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. It's true that there is room for improvement but there was nothing to complain about and most importantly, even the staff that didn't speak English well were willing to their best to understand and try to help, provided you presented a reasonable attitude towards them. I also liked the fact that the breakfast buffet choices changed daily, which kept things interesting. The pool area has a nice tropical paradise feel to it.

We arrived at approx 3pm and the room was not ready. Had to wait about 20 mins to access. The room was a little dated and did live up to the expectation given from the photos. Overall the room was comfortable and clean, and the hotel very well located for the beach and local amenities, and was quiet at night. Staff were friendly, while I didn't have any real requirements, so I can't comment on helpfulness etc. Karon Beach was in my opinion a generic tourist resort, and didn't reflect the true beauty that other parts of Thailand have to offer.

Not gonna lie whenever I stay in a hotel I really depend on the reviews I read on hotels.ca and tripadvisor. I know some people like to over exaggerate about some things like the tv didn't have enough channels so I usually just brush those off. Overall though, this was a good hotel because it's literally a two minute walk from the beach and the hotel will give you towels and mats for the beach. Also it's in the middle of the hustle and the bustle so you'll never be bored in the area. Hint: The farther left you walk from hotel the more you'll find cheaper prices of the same food and the more you'll find more locals which mean more local cuisine. The rooms are a bit older and can use a bit of upgrading but the resort itself is really beautiful. The rooms are large and the free breakfast buffet has a wonderful plethora of food, I'm not really sure why the other reviews are complaining. When I say the rooms are older I mean the toilets are very weak and can only be flushed every ten minutes. The air con sounds like a kettle is boiling. Sometimes the tap ran brown water but they fixed it. And the worst was the wifi, every day that I was there I had to go down to reception and tell them to restart the router and when that didn't work I used my own WIFI HOTSPOT. Also I know it says on the hotel site they only take cash deposit which I thought was really odd because most if not all take visa. So make sure to have 500 baht on hand.

Not worth it
We only stayed one day to catch a flight to another city. Room was large and clean but bathroom was a bit run down. Hotel is ok but too far from everything, u r better off picking a hotel closer to patong. Staff refused to call us a cab or arrange for one for the airport (we requested as soon as we checked in). my husband had to walk a km to the Main Street looking for a taxi at 5am.

Good size room, nice pool and good location close to everything. This unfortunately also means that it is a fairly noisy environment in the evenings when you hear the live music from a number of bars and restaurants.

Our first room the air conditioner was broken, staff quickly and happily moved us to another room. The pool was empty being repaired which was bad luck. Breakfast was good. Hotel was quite old and tired but staff were friendly.
