Liked the excellent service by the staff on most fronts as well as the extremely convenient location next to Menlyn mall. The security is also guaranteed with a check point as you leave the hotel.
Did not like that they do not accept to post a bill in the room if not using a credit card.

Very close to the mall, safe, and parking was easy to use. The room included breakfast buffet which was very nice and many options to choose from. The pool area became like club with DJ in the evening time, but you won’t hear them in the room. Overall it was good.

Never in my life have I experienced a dirty bathroom in a Marriott brand hotel! EVER. The property was beautiful but my room was NASTY! There was dried, crusted stains on the bathroom sink and dried dark matter around the rim of the toilet. It was late when I got in and I was exhausted and didn’t feel like changing rooms SO I CLEANED THE ROOM MYSELF. I informed the front desk the next morning but was not offered a discount of any kind. I feel that I should’ve been compensated for that. I paid over $100 US for that room in South Africa! Doesn’t feel good leaving there and not feeling like I got my money’s worth.

I was very disappointed with this hotel. I paid a higher corporate rate which was supposed to include shuttle service to my training site and the shuttle was unreliable. The food was terrible and the rooms were extremely dark. I ended my 14 day stay early and moved to a different hotel. The Protea did not meet my typical Marriott expectations.
The service was good. But the rooms are not sound proof. people walking & Talking in the passage almost feels like someone is right into your room, that was a bit unnerving. I guess that is a structural issue that cannot easily be resolved. The food was amazing! I just loved the proximity to Menlyn shopping center and to summit bar next door.

In terms of cleanliness, Carpets and material couches need to be washed they are too dirty and risky especially in this time of COVID-19
The hotel is really lovely, it's clean and modern. The staff is what made it extra special for us. They were extremely friend and helpful. My only disappointment was when they invluded onions in my food when i specifically said i was allergic. And then when they took the food to fix it, they brought me a sald that didn't have onions but the cucumbers smelled of onions as if they used a knife they had previously used to cut onions.
