Immediately upon arrival, the toilet malfunctioned. I was there for three days and there was no fix. But what’s worse is they did not give me a discount. Disappointing. The breakfast was amazing. Room was great otherwise. Amazing location.

Good location and close to attractions and tram. The Wifi is very slow and almost not workable so I have to use my cell data to connect to the internet. Also the taxi the hotel booked for me overcharged me to the airport. When I booked the taxi the front desk told me the charge will be a flat rate at 750 Lira (about $26) but when the driver dropped me off at the airport he asked for $35. I had to catch the flight and had no choice but paid him money. that is not honest and the hotel should not hire the taxi company.

Room is super small. My friend paid for the exact same room $105, but I was charged $192. This made me very angry. On top of that the room was freezing and they could not control the air conditioner. Very small room to walk. Bathroom super small and uncomfortable. They didn't even had a transformer. Definitely paid too much for this hotel I feel robbed.

It was like a horror movie. The room had plumbing problems and it was smelling disgusting, almost impossible to breath. When we contacted to front desk, they told us they don't have any other room available. We asked for a refund and they told us we need to contact expedia about a refund (ofcourse, expedia never refunds). When we were in the room, we realized there is blood stain on the sheets and they replaced the sheets. We couldn't sleep a single minute and it was the worst experience of my life. Now, neither hotel nor expedia is not willing to refund. Definitely not recommending this place to anyone.

I booked this hotel for my mom and my uncle based off the info I saw on Expedia. They both say they have had nothing short of a great experience here. In particular, they rave about a customer relations employee named Ferit. My mother says he is delightful and extremely attentive. From the beginning he has been super helpful and courteous, always asking if everything is alright and if they need anything at all. He speaks very good English which is a plus for tourists given the fact that at some hotels no one speaks English. The rooms are beautiful, clean, and the hotel as a whole is outstanding. The Root Karakoy comes highly recommended. I'm extremely grateful more than anything for Ferit and his constant attention to making sure my family is well tended to and comfortable. As I was speaking via video with my mother just now, he called the room to ask if they needed help with their bags (they were getting ready to check out) and he came right up. I was able to meet him virtually and sure enough, he was just as my mother described - pretty great. If this employee is to be considered for a promotion, please give it to him. Attention to detail and courtesy is extremely imperative for customers, especially in the hospitality business and for that, we are so grateful to Ferit.

Its very cheap there the light working sensor in the hall ways and is always dark and there is no A/C in the whole hotel with hot weather especially in the restaurant.

This hotel is in an excellent location. Service was good, but there was too much of an effort by staff to recommend bookings for hamam, dining and the like. Hotel is a bit dark overall.

Good place to stay! Friendly staff. Had to make a couple calls to the desk for items that should have been in the room. They left the amenities a mystery we had to figure out as we went. Other than that it was nice!

Don't stay at root karakoy
I am sad to say i had a terrible experience at root karakoy. I booked 4 rooms a month an a half in advance. Each room was booked for 4 people. I have the paperwork stating that each room was to have a queen bed and queen sleeper sofa. Instead we were given 4 rooms with one bed each. When I asked the staff to fix the room he said that he had other rooms available but would not want to inconvenience the people coming later. So in his mind it was okay to inconvenience our group?? Roll away beds were shoved into the rooms, making it nearly impossible to walk around the room. In addition the wifi did not work for anyone...when asked for help, they were unable to resolve the problem. Everyone in the group had trouble sleeping because they shut the air conditioning off in the middle of the night. Also be aware, the "pool" (its more of a hot tub) and is only free for the first 15 minutes...then they charge you. Finally the noisy atmosphere outside made it impossible to get any rest. I really wanted to give this place negative stars, but to be fair ...the room was clean and breakfast was okay.

This is such a cute hotel, and the staff is very nice and helpful. There is such a VIBE going on with nice music playing and a great lobby to relax in with a nice glass of wine or a book. The location is near lots of food restaurants/ clothing shops/dessert shops which are mainly located on the next street north of the hotel. They do provide a nice Turkish breakfast with tea and juices available, and the fridge has snacks and refrigerated beverages for sale, but there. is a convenience store across street if you need snacks or drinks for a cheaper price. There room service food was good but it was not available after 10pm. The room had a nice view of the Ocean and also had a smart TV which it made it nice to be able to watch NETFLIX etc. We had to leave a 4am for the airport and the staff was nice enough to get us a taxi at that time. I would definitely stay here again.

Honestly the place has potential. It is a very nice boutique hotel when you first walk in and the rooms are great Size BUT, it was a lot of work still to be done in the rooms. It was holes in the wall and the toilet you have to sit at an angle to pee in! Also the gym is small and the girl who is the head trainer was annoying. I hate to say it that way but she was I don’t like being bothered while training. Also the area is a bit congested and dirty.

The Root Karakoy family.
Root Karakoy is a hotel that sits right by the cozy cafes of Karakoy. The hotel staff was enthusiastic about making my stay as comfortable as possible; including suggesting restaurants and places to visit. In one instance, a hotel manager walked me next door to the restaurant and helped me with the menu. The hotel is equipped with a full spa, and massage after a workout downstairs at a well-equipped gym. This will be my regular during my visit here from NYC/London

OK, needs major plumbing upgrade/sound proofing
Old place that has been converted to a newer hotel. Some parts are renovated, while some parts are in terrible need of a renovation and upgrade. The plumbing noises are too loud and we couldn’t sleep because of the dripping water sounds in the walls. Also, the whole building shook everytime there was a tram/heavy vehicle outside. There were flies everytime we opened the doors/windows. The coffee pods/water bottles were either missing on check-in or were refilled only once throughout our stay! The bed room and the bed were comfortable but the plumbing sounds made it a terrible stay. Breakfast was just ok. People and the location were nice though.

Promising but needs more attention to detail
Staff attitude and helpfulness was great but the hotel lacks consistency and definitely more a 3-star than a 4-star. It was very warm throughout the stay and the central heating couldn't be disabled in rooms so even with a window open all the time it was too warm. They would forget to stock water or coffee replacements. Sometimes only a single towel would be supplied rather than two. We moved rooms 3 times until at last the Delux room was the best one - for a couple the standard rooms are way too small with very little movement possible. There was hair in the shower from previous guest and the shower door would hit the towel rack - simply poor design. But the team was helpful and the breakfast quite good. Location is great - even if the décor is a bit too dark. Front desk staff very helpful, in particular Saigun.

The hotel is quite new. Location is good, near tram station and walking distance to important attractions. Downside by the time I visited it was more like a soft opening. Construction work still been done, 8th floor which I stayed still certain rooms were under construction. Cleaning staff is really really noisy. Besides those opening issues, I think is a good value for the money paid and the location. Breakfast is regular, can improve!

I wanted to like this hotel but unfortunately it just wasn’t a great experience. The hotel is still very much under construction which means parts of the hotel are covered in dust, notably the breakfast area which was covered in a layer of dust and just an uncomfortable space. Rooms are quite small but decorated smartly however the air con seemed broken which meant the room was boiling. We asked for someone to check this but didn’t get much help. Lots of potential but I would wait 6 months until they finish construction before giving it a go. Location is excellent to be fair.

The property has recently undergone a renovation and is very new and modern. I loved the interior design. The rooms are comfortable. The staff is friendly and the location is great. There are lots of restaurants nearby and it is very easy to get to all the tourist sights in Istanbul. I would highly recommend this hotel!

I stays for 6 nights .. excellent location surrounded by lots of great restaurants and stores within walking distance .. the General manager Efe and the whole staff especially the afternoon desk clerk Lady will go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible !! The breakfast , which was included is a really a Brunch 😋 includes Turkish cheeses , Breads, fruits, cold cut meats and your choice of eggs or omelette all made to order !! Don’t miss it . Oh don’t forget to go to roof top for magnificent views of the sea and Istanbul 😍 I highly recommend this property !!!!

Our stay at Root Karakoy was very pleasant. The hotel is very new and the rooms are comfortable. The location could not be better, as the hotel is very close to restaurants, bars and public transportation. We definitely recommend this hotel.

The property is very well located in the center of town walking distance to various shopping, dining, and entertainment. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the property is well managed by down to earth professionals. Highly recommend and will definitely come back!

Overall my stay was very comfortable and the staff extremely helpful and attentive. The view from the roof albeit was nice the roof itself was dark and not so nice. The corridor leading to the rooms are too dark. The controls at the door weren’t working so housekeeping barged in twice which was a bit disconcerting! Products in the bathroom are very nice. Didn’t like the black toilet, it felt grubby and was water stained even though it was cleaned. The bed was comfortable and nice!

Such an amazing hotel! Immaculate rooms, very attentive and helpful staff. They went above and beyond. In the begining i was hesitant to choose this place cause they just opened their doors however Extremely happy with my choice. They went above and beyond with the service that they provided. Great location, excellent service, very classy decoration and yet they make you feel home. We will definitely be back!!

I loved the location of the hotel it is super central walking distance to all of the historical site. The receptionists gave me plenty of information about the area and they made me welcome and went out of their way to make me feel home. The rooms were clean and all new furniture. The lobby has 3 mini living areas if I am to come back for a longer trip and needed a place to work this would be ideal. I am definitely coming and recommending it to anyone who wants to stay in a stylish, clean, hip hotel
