Very friendly and helpful staff. Even upgraded the room to provide us more space for the dog. Awesome breakfast even spoiling the dog each morning with a sausage. Very comfortable, friendly hotel within easy walking distance to the pubs, restaurants and harbour. Helios
We stayed for two nights and were impressed by a very friendly and helpful staff, cozy interior, and tidy rooms. Breakfast was individually cooked to order and included fresh fruit and berries, too. Happy to recommend Avoncourt Lodge to all visitors!

Good hotel, would stop there again. Was on a hill but easily get to promenade/harbour.
Wonderful host, lovely property, truly dog friendly and the best breakfast I have had in a long while. We shall definitely return as this property is perfect for exploring and walking in the area, the view across the valley from our room was a treat as was the sausage our 4 legged companion had for breakfast in the morning.
What an absolute gem!! Location was amazing, the room was spotless and comfortable and the breakfast was the tastiest we had over the entire roadtrip, beating 4-star hotel accommodation.
The team were so welcoming!
I couldn’t recommend Avoncourt highly enough. We will be back!!!
Avoncourt Lodge is in a convenient location being within easy walking distance of the town and beaches. It has nice comfortable rooms, some have small balconies which have good views over the town and sea. They offer a great breakfast, cereals, fruit and a full English are among the options. As I prefer to just have cereal/fruit for breakfast, they allowed me to take away a bacon sandwich for later, instead of my cooked breakfast. The room was comfortable with good storage and facilities my only complaints would be that the curtains are quite thin and the balcony has a light on it at night, therefore the room is light at night and I like a dark room. In addition the ensuite bathroom does not have the sink in it, this is in the bedroom. This is inconvenient and I would have preferred to have no bath in the ensuite, a shower cubicle would do, allowing the sink to be in the bathroom. I would recommend this accommodation.
We booked this accommodation for a suba diving expidition which was postponed due to bad weather. Rather than cancel we decided to keep the reservation and take a short break. It was well worth it. Alison and the team are excellent hosts providing great local knowledge, making sure we were comfortable and making a delicious breakfast!
The room was spotlessly clean, the bed comfortable and aside from the weather and guls (it is a seaside town after all) it was very peaceful.
I would defiitely recommend Avoncourt Lodge.
Lastly: there was at least one room on the ground floor so an option at least for those able to navigatre stairs.
Me and my family stayed here for 3 nights over the Jubilee weekend and as soon as we arrived, Alison made us feel extremely welcome. The room was very clean, the bed was very comfortable, but the best part of the stay had to be the breakfast in the morning, it was absolutely delicious. Will definitely pay another visit in the future and would highly recommend a stay here!!!
Just the ticket. A great experience with character. Very friendly and comfortable. It’s not a boutique style hotel thank goodness. We will definitely be back.
We don't normally stay in B&Bs (usually stay in hotels), so we were pleasantly surprised and pleased with the experience and friendly atmosphere of the Avoncourt. Would definitely stay there again.
We had a wonderful stay the owner and staff couldnt have done anymore to have make us feel comfortable and welcome there.
Great location for town and cliff walks
The best breakfast with lots of choice
Would definately stay again and recommend!
This place is absolutely fantastic value for money. I stayed here in a single room with my dog. The room was small but had everything we needed and all the amenities I'd expect for what I paid. The B&B is "Dog friendly" rather than just "dog tolerant" and Alison was so welcoming for us both, and very acommodating for my questions before arriving. She kindly packed a lunch for me as I was out walking during the breakfast hours. There was even a lovely cup of coffee waiting for me when I arrived back from the walk which I enjoyed whilst sat in the beautiful sunny garden after check out. I'd highly recommend.
