"The property itself was spotless. I didn't see a speck of dust. It is obviously cleaned pretty much daily. The bathroom was spotless and the shower was good. The kitchen was clean and had everything you needed. I would add some baking trays and oven gloves but apart from that it was great! The bedroom was clean and tidy. "Excellent communication from host & easy check in with key lock. Room was spacious & comfortable for our family of 4. The only negative was that we hadn’t realised that bathroom would be downstairs, which resulted in the kids being a bit anxious about going on their own, as it’s a shared house and they weren’t comfortable wandering around the house on their own with strangers. Not a problem for the adults, but the kids weren’t comfortable. "

8/10 Good

"The varied breakfast menu that is published on the Hotel website, which (as regular guests) we expect and have come to enjoy, was seemingly not available. This had been replaced by (the all too familiar ) buffet arrangement of the full English "fry up" breakfast, kept warm - This was disappointing. Since on booking in, we were neither made aware to this deviation from the published menu. Nor made aware of any other alternatives to what the kitchen might be prepared to do for guests. Eg (1) Poached rather than fried eggs. (My wife is digestive intolerant to fried foods) (2) The alternative vegan breakfast. But in saying this the "Fry up" buffet breakfast food (although restricted in choice) was passible ! Service- After sitting at a table for some time, we had to catch a member of staff "In passing" to ask for tea and toast. Not the "Way of working" we might expect of this hotel with guests. But has happened in the past . But overall, this "Breakfast "experience does not detract from the quality & standard of the hotel rooms & facilities, the quality and standard of the dinner food menu and (most importantly )the excellent /attentive standard of service in the restaurant from all the staff."

"We were really happy with our stay given the price we paid. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Amenities great with pool, sauna, gym etc for extra £10. Good pub and pool tables. With a bit of a clean and decorate this place could be amazing. The ballroom was very glam and I loved the old leather sofas everywhere. Alton towers 20 minutes away."

"I had a good night here. The room was very spacious and well appointed, if a bit old fashioned. A bath and a shower enclosure which is unusual these days. Some very minor maintenance issues but I was very pleased with the room overall. The bar terrace is great, such a nice place to sit out if sunny. The staff were friendly and helpful in the main. Drinks and food prices were very high (£7.50 for a pint of lager, £22 for burger and fries) but probably in line with the hotel's general vibe. The evening food was, to be fair, very good quality. The cooked breakfast was, again, very good quality. The orange juice and (particularly) the coffee were poor (probably the worst coffee, served yourself from a flask, that I've had in years!). I would stay here again."
