It was so cold. Spent the new years Eve at this place. I don't know why but it was actually colder in the room than outside. My room was on a fourth floor but I had to climb five flights of stairs to get to my room because first floor was infact on a second floor. Room was very clean but kind of outdated.

청결도나 관리상태는 좀 애매할 수 있지만 너무나도 싼 가격에 잘 지냈습니다. 영어도 잘 안 통하고 숙박계 관리도 잘 안되어 체크인 못 할 뻔 했지만 다 좋았습니다. 전망도 좋고 절벽에 건물을 세운 구조도 특이했습니다. 아침 7시에 도착했는데도 바로 응대해주시고 얼리체크인도 해주셨습니다. 위치도 너무 좋았고 다시 꼭 가고 싶은 곳입니다. 참고로 처음에는 호텔이었다가 모텔로 명칭을 바꾸고 제가 갔을 때에는 게스트하우스라고 또 명칭이 바뀌어있었습니다. 그것도 좋았습니다.ㅋ

Trip to Cat Ba

Very clean, cheap, good location, near restaurants, market, nice view from hotel. The price for 1 day boat tour by hotel is very good. Limited English by staff..however, Mr Tuan Anh (can communicate in English) can be easily contacted for assistance if needed. Transport by Mr Tuan Anh at very good price.

Bare bones but comfy bed and decent bathroom.

Bare necessities room with an awesome view. But it was all sufficient and clean and the price was rock bottom. The staff super friendly and helpful. They didn’t do any housekeeping after my first night. They never went into the room, not even to empty the trash. But somehow it seemed ok, like my stuff was safe and untouched. I know they would have done housekeeping if I’d requested it. I have stayed in lots of similar priced places geared more for locals and often things are in poor repair. But this room had everything in good repair, the bathroom had newish fixtures and the bed was comfortable. I rented a motorbike on site. Did I mention the view?

-terrible, small room and ants in the bathroom, Ac kept leaking water and we had to use a Dustbin to hold the water. First night we went back, we can’t turn on the AC but she turned the switch that switch on AC off so we have to go down and talk to us. Since the room has that moldy smell, we have to turn on the AC and open the window to ventilate for a bit , then the old lady came up and asked us to close the window. *seriously, if you are doing a hotel business, you shouldn’t have done that. Second night, when we got back, we can’t even turn on the light since obviously she turned all the electricity of our room off. This is so bad we have a bad impression on Catba. +location is great as you can see the ocean but others are terrible, I felt like I got cheated by the ratings ;(

돈 두번냈어요 벽은 개미천지 Ants all over the wall, paid twice

최악 최악 최악 호텔스닷컴에서 돈내고 결제끝내고갔더니 자기는 핸드폰에 호텔스닷컴 문자온게없다며 (스마트폰이아닌 피쳐폰이었어요) 돈을 못받았다며 돈내라고하더군요. 한국에부모님께전화해서 호텔스닷컴에 도움을 청했어요. 호텔스닷컴이 여기에 전화해서 제대로 결제된게 맞다고 말해주었지먼 영어를 못한다며 결국 돈을 묵은날수 만큼 더냈어야 햇어요. 호텔스닷컴에서 환불해준다고했지만 이건뭐막무가내. 호텔이아니라 우리나라 여인숙수준. 화장실휴지에 개미기어다니고 침대랑 벽에 개미천국이에요. 객실에서나가면 전기 차단기내려요. 더열받는건 다시들어온거보면 좀 알아서 올려놔야하는데 계속 내려가있어서 올라갔다 내려갔다 (엘레베이터 없는 계단만있는) 몇번을했는지 몰라요. 최악 . 가격이싸다지만 빚쟁이된기분을 실컷느끼며 깟바에서의 이틀을 불쾌한기억으로 남기고왔네요. 베트남 언어할수있는 분만 가세오..ㅋ Ants all over the wall, even on your bed and toilet papers. I had to pay twice (to hotels.com and the owner of the hotel) because she didnt got messeage from hotels.com (she didnt use smartphone) . I cant recomend here . There are so many hotels in catba, much better than here. I spent two days worrying about being a liar to them.

Friendly staff with decent amenities in the surrounding area.... Very nice view from the room, but a bit of a climb up the stairs is required to get the view... Beware of them locking the front door around 2230. Fine for a short stay!

Great stay

We stayed in Nam Phuong hotel for 2 nights and we really liked the place. Everyone in the staff was so nice and friendly, the hotel was located in a really good and central place in the beach, the view from the hotel room was awesome because one of the falls was a big Window to the sea. Wifi worked well, so did aircon. We would definitely recommend the hotel. Oh the pillows were awful but well I think you can live with that.

Would recommend staying here to anyone using Cat Ba as a base to cruise into Halong Bay. It is comfortable, cheap for rooms with air con and has a great view. The hotel staff were lovely. So lovely in fact that despite me accidentally booking the night before I wanted to stay with a no refund policy, she happily allowed us to stay the next night instead with no extra charge. There is a great tour place just to the left (looking at the hotel) called Cat Ba Vision which I would also highly recommend.

Great hotel, lovely owner

The owner was lovely, the location is perfect (right on the strip, overlooking the bay), room was clean/comfortable/quiet and a very cheap. We had stayed at the terrible Sun Flower 2 Hotel on our first night as part of a Joy Travel tour (AVOID AT ALL COSTS!) so were really happy to find Nam Phuong Hotel.

Best value for money in Vietnam

Best value for money of all hotels we've stayed at in Vietnam during the past 6 months. We were a bit wary because of the low price, but still went ahead and booked it, and we were not disappointed. Lovely family running the place, comfortable rooms with great sea views, and an in-house restaurant that serves huge portions of all Vietnamese staples (including vegetarian options) at budget prices. It's pretty quiet despite being on the main road, and Internet was reliable. The only thing you need to be aware of is that Cat Ba experiences frequent power cuts and this hotel has no generator, but they never lasted more than 2 hours while we were there.

hôtel au rapport qualité/prix excellent

l'hôtel est loin d'être luxueux, mais tout était fonctionnel, et surtout : le rapport qualité/prix était imbattable. 16€ pour 2 nuits dans une chambre privative assez grande, avec salle de bain très convenable et douche chaude, accueil aimable, vue sur la baie : qui dit mieux ?
