Gent's beautiful (not chocolate-box pretty), there are lots of great vinyl shops, the bars are wonderful, lots of great live music - Bar Lume!!! - & Catberry Bar in Lange Violette Straat does great coffee & maybe the best ever vegan cakes.

Really enjoy Ghent. All the charms of Brugge without the same level of tourist insanity. Still crowded but easier to move away from the crowd. The Gravensteen Castle tour (comedy) was so well done, fun, silly and yet still informative.

We loved Ghent. So many options of things to see and do. I highly recommend Museum voor Schone Kunsten. It is outside the city center, but very easy to get to. Public transit was easy to figure out, and love the tap on option.

Central Ghent is a low emission zone. As we had a UK vehicle, we had to register our car to park within the ring road and avoid any fines. It's free and quick, although you will need information from your V5C.

We enjoyed the Mystic Lamb in the Cathedral, including the augmented reality tour.
"Clean and looks newly furbished. Hotel staff good in english and easy to communicate with. The car park is a bit pricy at 20 euros per night but it s convenient and secure so we went for it anyway. We stayed during Ghent festival and there s performances around the city - this hotel is just 20 min walk from the happenings and is not disturbed by the noise. Would recommend."
"Absolutely loved our stay at Marriott hotel. We were here for a long weekend as our son was playing in the Ghent festival. We requested a quiet room, so were at the back of the hotel. This was great as not too affected by the noise of the festival when going to bed.
The hotel was very clean, our room was spacious with very comfortable beds. The hotel food and service were very good. We will definitely return next year. Highly recommend. "
"Beautiful hotel in a central location. Lovely quality hotel. Room was a bit dark, could have done with better lighting.
Excellent breakfast.
Would definitely recommend."
