Much of Dusseldorf was destroyed during WWII but you can still see old architecture in some neighborhoods. This neighborhood near Belsenplatz on the U-Bahn is a quiet area with beautiful buildings and trees lining the streets, such as Barmerstrasse, Glücksbergerstrasse and Steffenstrasse.

I love how most cafes and restaurants in Dusseldorf (maybe all of Germany?) have outdoor seating. Die Rostmeister was beautifully industrial and I loved their interior but we ended up sitting outside because it felt so good. We asked a neighbor and learned that when spring hits, everyone sits outside for coffee, drinks, and meals. Great spot to chat over a delicious latte.
Every summer starting in mid-July, one of Germany's biggest fair is held by the Rhine River in Oberkassel, Düsseldorf. The fair goes on for 10 days with fireworks at the beginning and the end.
