"Very disappointed with our stay. The first room we were given appeared to be an old storage area that they stuffed a bed in. The staff were great and upgraded us to a larger room. The temperature was way too warm for sleeping and the thermostat seemed to have no impact. It took a good 10 minutes for water to come out warm from the taps. According to the valet parking online app, it takes 45 minutes to get your car but they do not tell you that when you park or in the ticket. As with many Fairmont hotels you pay a premium for history and beautiful common spaces but the rooms do not receive enough investment. Normally a great location, protests on Wellington close the streets near the hotel to traffic which can have an impact. The staff were wonderful. "

"My boyfriend loved the view but that’s really all you’re paying for. The bed is not super comfortable and the pillows are flat as hell. The water takes ages to heat up for a shower. The room tends to be cold due to the windows and also takes time to heat up. There’s a fair bit of noise from below - you’ll be hearing a lot of music, beeping and yelling now that it’s spring. Location is great for food but there are a lot of drug-users and homeless in the area if that’s a concern for you. Maybe I’m just hard to impress but it was just ok for me. "

"The room was clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was also fantastic, I did not inquire about laundry services so I can not comment on that but everything seemed just as good as many Homewood Suites locations but the downtown Ottawa location is very nice for being within walking distance of many "

"The hotel itself and staff were great, 5 starts there. The girl the worked at The Porch restaurant however, couldn’t care less if there were customers there at all. We placed our order for a burger and beer each. She brought our drinks over and after about 40 minutes I went to see her to ask if our food was soon ready. She went to the kitchen for a moment and came back apologizing. She had never sent our order through! The entire time, she was hanging over the cash register on her cell phone. Never turning around to tend to the approximately 8-10 customers unless they just arrived. Extremely disappointed with this service. The burger description sounded great, too bad we never got to try them as we had to leave for the game. Management may want to consider a phones on breaks only policy!"
