A beautifully comfortable new hotel with lots of different spaces for eating and lounging. Reasonable prices for dinner, gorgeous cooked breakfast options, decorated throughout with Antarctic and global warming exploration art and themes in recognition of a famous local sea captain.
Very well done refurbishment of an old care home.
Fittings and fixtures are modern, stylish high end.
Food was delicious too.
All staff very friendly and approachable.
Excellent food, clean & comfortable rooms, although thin walls if you know what I mean. Rooms weren’t freshened up between nights. Over a mile out of town which meant you need a taxi ride.
Quirky hotel decor.
Super lovely staff and the food was fab!
Only downside was being in an adjoining room (not requested). Annoyingly woken at 5am by the alarm of the occupant of the other room. Unfortunately the noise didn’t subside until they left their room. Oh and that wasn’t a quiet considerate exit either.
The property inside was immaculate and very clean. Our room was absolutely immaculate and clean. Extremely comfortable bed. The meals were superb, and the staff, at reception and dining room were very friendly polite and helpful. Nothing to complain about whatsoever, however it would have been beneficial to be able to charge our devices, i.e. USB charging points. The only negativity would be the property's lack of street appeal!
Generally great experience, . Only payment cards accepted but no card machine so it's all PC entered by reception - not ideal. EV charging points not available yet but spaces allocated.
Be sure to ask for non-adjoining room for extra quiet room.
First room was very noisy and mad loud clicking noises when people walked past the door. The bathroom floor and shower did t look like they had been cleaned. Told no need to book for food that evening when we checked in and then had to wait 1.5hrs for a burger and chips. No sausage at breakfast and when we asked for it to be replenished they said that was the last batch! It was 9.15am and breakfast we served until 10.30am! Asked for a change of room which they accommodated and this was better with no noise
Noisy music thudding through bedroom floor till 10pm when advised would be turned off by 8:30

Liked: Cleanliness
Disliked: Staff & service
This was a last minute stay due to proximity to the local hospital. The venue looks to have been recently done up. I got the impression they stay nah be doing some work on the upper level. The facilities were nice and the bed was comfortable. However, the walls between rooms are paper thin and you can hear every word in the next room, and if they have their TV on, good luck getting to sleep. The staff seemed a little ‘absent’. For example, after finishing our main course we sat for a while to await our server coming back to the table, maybe 20 minutes passed and we were asked if we would like to see the dessert menu (we did) and a moment later we were told the kitchen was closed which was disappointing given we had sat and waited and we’re not made aware of any cut off time. On check out, there were two members of staff at the desk, one on a call and another appearing to be free. We stood at the desk and there was no indication we were going to be attended to or acknowledgment so we just put the room key in the ‘quick check out’ box and left. Good refurb but needs some additional work in other areas.
