We went for knowing we wanted a lazy holiday. Our aim was to spend as much time on a sun lounger as possible and I think we managed pretty well. We explored the 2 towns close to the resort; Port Louis seemed to be more of a day time excursion, the markets are great and its def worth a visit, but beware of getting hassled (its pretty much the opposite of been in the hotel). Incredible service, amazing beach & facilities with great attention to detail. We spent a fantastic week there and barely managed to leave the hotel at all because it was so nice.

Room was extremely comfortable and the service is exceptional. Note the sea here can be too shallow to swim in at low tide, and we stayed during a neep tide when the water was too low to use the pedaloes, canoes etc. Highly recommend the trip to swim with dolphins arranged by the hotel, note you need to be a strong swimmer though to jump off the boat on cue and swim rapidly to keep up with them - children under 12 probably couldn't manage it. Beautiful resort on the best stretch of beach in Mauritius - incredible views and sunsets each evening. The staff are all warm and friendly and go to great lengths to make you feel welcome and special. The rooms are well decorated and the beds super comfy. We have just returned from a fantastic stay at the Hilton in Mauritius. The hotel's about an hour's walk from the town of Flic en Flac, but there are always plenty of taxis outside the hotel that will take you there. My husband and I stayed here for 7 nights in December. Excellent service and a great place to relax and have a break. Their top priority is your comfort and the staff are extremely polite and professional and do everything they can to ensure you have a comfortable stay. They do not say no to anything you ask for!! One of the best hotels I've ever been to. Perfect for a romantic or relaxed break. Food is excellent - both buffet and a la carte restaurants. Plenty of water sports to do (free of charge) or tours to other areas of the island.

A really gorgeous resort based in the North of the island. I went with my partner for a romantic holiday and it was lovely place to relax and unwind. The team can't do enough for you and really looked after us. Make sure you pay for the All Inclusive package as it's well worth it - aside from the buffet, all restaurants are Ala Carte and although not everything is included without a supplement, we found there was enough to choose from. Having travelled a lot for business and pleasure, I have to say this was the best experience ever. Nothing could be faulted . Location, staff and facilities were top notch. The menu was varied even for a veggie like me. And there was even some entertainment every evening

Excellent food and service

I emailed before we arrived that our flight to Mauritius was arriving at 0600.We arrived at 0730 to be greeted by Vic, the service relations manager with coffee and breakfast, she told us our room was not available until 1400 but she had made another room available for us to sleep and shower in after our overnight flight. What a greeting!! We were so impressed that we changed our stay to half board and enjoyed four fantastic dinners. The location of the hotel is on the beach across the bay...

To begin with the journey from the airport to the hotel will take approx 45minutes and will cost 2000 MUR (about £40) in a taxi or 2100 MUR for airport transfer. Location - peaceful south coast which in my opinion has more natural beauty than the other parts of the island. Also whilst it was raining elsewhere in Mauritius the Sofitel seemed to strangely enjoy sunshine consistently. Superb hotel completely 5 star, lot's of activities and beautiful property. The only drawback is that its far from the city so you need Taxis every time you go out which is bit costly.

Amazing resort and very good breakfast

Great service, lovely staff and very nice food. The flame and tide restaurant and aqua restaurant are fantastic. Rooms are refurbished and are very high quality. The grounds are also lovely. Entertainment at night is low key but very good. Our son loved the kids club eh oh was excellent.
