Charming, centuries old country pub with not a straight beam in the place. Our room was large, characterful, spotless and comfortable. Decent pub grub delivered with especially warm and friendly service.

I was looking for a one night stay close to Diss for the 2017 Organ Festival. I searched on proximity and price and Hazel Barn met my requirements. For a bed and breakfast Hazel Barn far exceeded my expectations. The owners are very welcoming and friendly and the breakfast provided was absolutely superb. Nice room with en-suite and access to a fridge in communal kitchen area serving the 3 guest suites. It is nice to have fresh milk for your early morning tea rather than the long life little pots...

We stayed here for one night whilst visiting our son who had recently joined the armed forces. It was a very convenient location and a very pleasant stay. The rooms were clean and well equipped and the bar lounge was cosy and relaxing after a long journey. Breakfast the next morning was good and set us up for our busy day ahead. Hopefully we will be returning again soon.

Visiting Family in the area and found this to be the perfect base. Easy access to the A14 and Bury St Edmunds, but in the countryside away from the hustle and bustle.

A very quiet hotel, albeit next to a busy main road, the room we had was motel style. A very warm and welcoming room with the bathroom having the free shampoos etc , not found in many hotels these days. After a very long day and a long drive, we tested the bar out, ok, its not cheap, but it IS a hotel, bar staff were very helpful, and made life very easy for us. The bar also serves a very good meal at a reasonable price.
downside, but not really bad, was the courtyard area, which was full of...

We battled the snow for a stay here and were so glad we did. The hotel is beautiful with all the wooden beams and real log fires and our bedroom was a really good size. Both dinner and breakfast were yummy and my husband even had a treatment in the spa which he enjoyed. My only criticism would be the lack of music. Other than the airman’s bar the whole building was in silence I think some light background music would have been nice and added some atmosphere. I understand a lot of your guests...

We loved our stay in the Abbey Hotel and apartments, the staff, breakfast & attention to detail were amazing. Very easy walk into the town centre with its unique shops, pubs & restaurants, also not forgetting the Cathedral & Abbey Gardens.
Bury St Edmunds is a must to visit.

Cory, the manager of The Fox, is a lovely host. Super hard working, he is around to serve breakfast and still managing the bar late at night. Nothing is too much trouble.
The rooms are spacious and warm. Parking is immediately outside the rooms and easily accessed.
Bury St Edmund’s is a lovely town with excellent shopping and coffee shops. Strongly recommend staying at The Fox for visiting Bury St Edmunds.

This hotel is for chillers only. Just relax and forget all your worries. Fantastic food, great staff, top class facility. BUT; dont have a 2nd floor room when it's the hottest weekend of the year. Not that you'll know when you book but it was just too hot. No air conditioning just a small noisy fan so took the edge off the chill factor! However, its was a fantastic base to explore west Suffolk. Do try it.......

I tend to worry about the cleanliness of a B&B and thus avoid them. However, this one was priced at a really good rate and most other hotels close to the wedding I was attending were already booked. I got there on Saturday and I was blown away. Not only was the host (Mike) so welcoming and helpful but the place was beautiful and the rooms far exceeded my expectations. The rooms are so clean (I really have high standards on this!) and I couldn't have asked for more. They are spacious, airy, full...
