Four Points by Sheraton Sesimbra

8/10 Good

"This is a tricky one. The rooms aren't great. The one we ended up in needed renovations. It had grimy, water damaged baseboards. The shower caulking needed to be cleaned or replaced. The water was never hot, sometimes lukewarm. The hair dryer was weirdly sticky and old. We reserved a "superior" room with a balcony through Expedia, but when we checked in, we were utterly dismayed. The room was in very poor condition and felt a bit like a room in a frat house. The first thing we noticed was the floor, which was chipped and damaged. The bathroom was grim and depressing. Overall, the room was in poor condition, and the "balcony" was actually an impersonal space shared with other rooms that overlooked nothing. Maybe this would have been acceptable if the room had been described as "basic" or "economy" when we booked, but "superior" suggests something much nicer. We immediately returned to reception after seeing the room and asked if an upgrade was available. The lovely young man at the front desk was able to upgrade us for an additional €25 per night. Our new room had a beautiful ocean and pool view, and I'm so glad we upgraded, so keep this in mind when booking. On a positive note, the furniture appeared to be new, and the bed was comfortable. Other things to keep in mind: there was no corkscrew, the "fridge" was really just a cooler, and there was no ice machine. Pluses: The pool area was lovely. The breakfast was good and the restaurant staff were nice."

Upon Harbor - Seixal Bay Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Overall this place was amazing, we have the two bedroom apartment with a great view of the harbor and we watched the sunset night from the balcony. Kitchen was fully stocked, bedrooms were great and rooms were quiet for the most part. Only two complaints I had is the dishwasher had a weird smell so we just didn’t use it and the bedrooms seem they require a actual key in order to lock them which was a annoying for parents on a trip with their kids who might want some alone time. Overall though I would recommend this place it’s beautiful and the restaurant downstairs has amazing food just wish it was open everyday"

SANA Sesimbra Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"I stayed at the SANA Sesimbra for 5 nights as a solo traveler - the room was the perfect size for myself or a party of two. Access to the beach was incredible and I enjoyed the privacy of the balcony to still get the beach experience when the sand got a little crowded. Daily continental breakfast offered an impressive spread of items that never disappointed - including multiple espresso machines in addition to a carafe of pre-brewed "American Coffee". Cleaning staff was respectful of your presence in the room when cleaning and did an amazing job, the front desk staff was fluent in English and very helpful with all of my questions. I would absolutely stay at the SANA Sesimbra again."

"This is a beautiful guest house in a very central location, meters from the beach. The room and bathroom are of a good size. Everything you need is within walking distance. Valter, the owner, is what makes this place so special. Nothing was too much trouble for him, he was available if we needed him, he gave useful tips about restaurants, and was friendly and helpful."

Pousada Castelo de Palmela - Historic Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Fantastic historic hotel right next to the Palmela castle. The rooms are big and we had a 2nd floor corner room which meant we had double the panoramic views. Breakfast was great with a huge choice of meats / cheeses / pastries / fruit / eggs etc and staff were very attentive. The only down point was the cost of the bar - €3.50 for a very small glass of beer was outrageous - no wonder there were no people in there! The pricing of everything else was as you would expect for a nice hotel, so the bar pricing was unexpected. The hotel is only 40-45 minutes for Lisbon airport, so this makes a great stop either at the start or end of your visit to Portugal and I'm sure we'll be back."
