Nagoya JR Gate Tower Hotel

"This hotel was absolutely fantastic. We were blown away by the level of service, care, and value for your money. The breakfast was especially exceptional. We also happened to stay during a 5.7 magnitude earthquake and the hotel was very well prepared. As foreigners who have never experienced an earthquake, this was completely new experience to us. We knew they were taking care of everything with frequent and quick updates to every room immediately. I highly recommend."

"Absolutely loved this place! Just across the street from Omicho market. Fresh towels every day, beautiful public bath which was fun to try, and even the lighting in the room was beautiful and relaxing. Would highly recommend!!"

"I have stayed at this hotel three times now, in the last three years, coming to Nagoya on my yearly Japanese vacation. The hotel is located in Sakae near a lot of shopping and restaurants, while being within walking distance of attractions like Osu Shotengai shopping street and Osu Kannon Temple. The breakfast buffet is first-rate with a lot of Japanese options as well as Western fare for the unadventurous. The staff is extremely polite, kind, and helpful as well as being very professional. I stayed on the executive floor this time so I had access to the executive lounge with free drinks and snacks as well as free health club access. However, I have tattoos so was unable to use the facilities. I think my only complaint would be to relax the standards for tattoos, but I understand the policy due to the clientele they serve so I was not too bent out of shape about it. There are different cultural rules and expectations in Japan and I happily follow them while I am here since I am not an overzealous traveler that expects the world to bend to favour my Western ways and behaviours. I come to Japan to experience their culture and not enforce mine."

"This experience was excellent. We wish we had more time at the property! The staff was very kind and helpful. The language differences were not a problem either. The room was cute and the onsens were very well maintained. The dinner buffet was amazing!!!! Way better than what we were expecting. We definitely want to come back! Highly recommend. From the bus stop it is a walk up hill. This was a bit confusing. But once we figured out you could connect through the Hakone Kowakien Yunessun 箱根小涌園ユネッサン it made it much easier getting to the bus stops on the Hakone pass lines. There is also a bus stop for at the hotel on a different bus line. And free hotel shuttle buses to some places."

"Room size is good enough, location is quite close to kawaguchiko lake but a bit of walk from kawaguchiko station, which is fine as you get to sightsee the surroundings. The hotel is generous enough to provide free shuttle bus from and to the hotel. It also provides free bus to several stations which are quite strategic for your trip back to Tokyo - like for example Otsuki station."

"The hotel is smaller, more fancy. 10 min walk to Nagoya station. There’s a scent they use in the hallway, I think it’s eucalyptus? Not a fan. We appreciated the beds being made daily and the fresh towels, but it was not necessary. A little wasteful to change out the towels every day. The breakfast buffet was a set menu with 4 choices, it was good, simple. They do not have laundry on site. The staff was pleasant and friendly. The neighborhood was quiet."
