"I don’t remember seeing anything about having to park a distance from the lodge and therefore having to carry luggage in the rain up a hill. Also I had presumed electric was included but we had to put £1 coins in the meter. All the cutlery, some of the plates and pans were dirty"

"The property was clean,, quaint, and charming. The restaurant was delicious! I had dinner and breakfast the next morning. It was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had or should I say that I’ve had in Scotland so far. The staff was amazing! Carolyn went above, beyond and out of her way to make sure I was well taken care of, and I greatly appreciate it. The Royal Hotel is lucky to have her."

"The hotel was nice. The food at the Brassels was better than the Cruzerie (?). The hotel was pet friendly. The rooms were a great size and comfortable. Unfortunately, we couldn't do much as you have to book everything in advance. We were not aware that you had to plan ahead."

Lodge 5 - "hawthorn"

Lodge 5 - "hawthorn"

10/10 Excellent
"We had a lovely, peaceful stay at Hawthorn Lodge Chalet on Arran. It is a basic, practical and functional chalet, but it has everything you need for a comfortable stay and is very good value for those looking for somewhere simple and relaxing. The chalet is spacious, with a lovely veranda that is perfect for sitting out in the evening and enjoying the surroundings. The hot shower was also very welcome after a day out exploring. The setting among the trees is particularly nice, and the location is excellent for getting around the island, with villages, walks and other attractions within easy reach. The site manager was friendly and helpful, which added to the positive experience. There are no frills, but that is part of the charm if you are looking for somewhere straightforward, peaceful and well located. There is an electric meter, so it is worth being mindful of usage. We were fairly frugal with ours and had no problems. Overall, a lovely quiet base for exploring Arran, with a great setting and everything needed for a comfortable stay."
