"A lovely hotel in a great location with tasteful, modern decor and an extremely comfortable bed. Particularly liked it as it was so quiet. Many hotels state that they are soundproofed but actually dont appear to be. The Mercure Bankside was certainly peaceful and relaxing. Dog friendly too for a charge of £15 daily. Very pleasant and helpful staff from start to finish. Glass bottle included in the room to fill up from drinking water point on the hotel landing. Thought this was a great idea as it offered water as required and no plastic waste. I would definitely stay at this hotel again."

"The staff were wonderful and the highlight of my stay - friendly, helpful and fun to chat with. The bar (including food) is open 24 hours, which really saved us after we got out of the theater and most places were closed. The room was comfortable. The design makes the most of the small space (my friend and I each had our own room). I liked being able to adjust the lighting to my liking."

"We booked the hotel for a family break and had three rooms. One of the rooms thermostat was broken and we reported this to reception. It was a very hot weekend and the room has incredibly hot. Reception informed us that there were no other rooms they were fully booked and there was no maintenance available. Considering our options we approached reception again and informed them the room would be too uncomfortable to stay and and it was not as advertised. The gentleman in reception was great and offered a refund for the room and we duly booked another hotel for one of the rooms. During the discussion we were informed that refund would take a few days and would need to go via hotels.com as per our booking which was fine. I contacted hotels.com the following week after no news and I was told to give it 72 hours to allow them to contact the hotel. I had to chase this a further three times and now 4 weeks later I have been informed that the hotel will not be issuing a refund. Avoid this hotel"
