Quick stay for fam of five
We had a long layover and needed a quick place to stay for a family of five. Steps Hotel was perfect for that occasion. Super uncomplicated, clean and inexpensive. We were very grateful for the service and friendliness.

Berlin on a budget
Steps Hotel was great to stay on a budget. The staff was super friendly, rooms pretty spacious and in an alright area. We were able to walk to the heart of Berlin in about 30 minutes. The rooms were clean and had a lot of space, sharing a bathroom was not too much of an issue at all, they were very clean. I would recommend Steps if you are traveling to Berlin on a budget, front desk staff was incredibly helpful and kind.

The hotel is actually doesn't have stairs !! you need to hold your luggage upstairs. The staff is friendly. The room is below my expectation compared to the 50 euros I paid! You need to walk about 10 min to get to the nearest bus station or metro station. Overall, I wont recommend this hotel, unless you don't care where to sleep :)

Apartment building style hotel with shared bathroo
A bit difficult to find after dark. No parking spots for hotel. You have to look for one near by on your own. No elevator. I stayed on 4th floor and had to walk those stairs few times with luggage. Shared bathroom had a weird smell but you can smell that only on the corridor. Rooms are minimalistic:. beds one table and closet. No TV set. Room was clean and front desk friendly. Good for sleep only. WiFi slow as hell.

Friendly staff, reasonable breakfast for price in Berlin. Main drawback is lack of a lift. Hotel info does not advertise lack of lift. 5 flights up with suitcase is a workout.

Nice and quiet if you are looking to rest
Stayed there for one night with my wife and two kids (4 and 10 years old) prior to flying back home. Clean rooms, clean bathroom, no elevator (hence the name Steps Hotel), carpet in our room in poor condition. Great place to stay if you are looking to get some rest after a busy day of sightseeing. Located in a very quiet are of Wedding in Berlin. Breakfast cost 5€ per adult, kids eat free. Continental breakfast buffet included coffee, an assortment of teas, cereal, juice, jams, cheeses, deli meats, pate, fresh buns, yogurt, fruit cocktail. Overall a pleasant experience.

Good size rooms
Good size for a big family. Friendly, helpful staff who made us a pizza very late at night. Seemed to be in the middle of a residential neighborhood.

No toiletries, not even soap in the bathroom to wash your hands. It seems like a hostel but without a kitchen to prepare food. And no kettle in bedrooms you can only buy drinks. No lift for anyone needing lift access.

This hotel is close to underground, 5 - 10 minutes walking. You will reach the centre within 30 minutes. My single room was with 4 separate beds. Rooms are sharing shower, which are in Apartment

Stayed there because it was near my friend's flat in Berlin. It turned out to be a good place for me because of location. Neighborhood seems nice enough with lots of eating places and quite walkable. Near public transport and good parking nearby (I had a rental car). The room is very basic with a shared bath, but comfortable and clean. The breakfast was good with plenty of coffee. I will stay there again on my next trip.

Layover stay from TXL
We just needed a place to crash for an overnight layover from TXL. Pretty easy to get to, bus 128 to metro, 3 stops and walk 3 blocks. 30 min travel time. Reception is a bar where someone is 24/7. The room we stayed in had 4 single beds but we only needed 2. Shared bathroom. Clean, breakfast was available for 5 euros.

Worth the price
The aptly named Steps Hotel (aim for the first floor if you want to avoid as many of those steps as possible) is a fine low-end hotel. In every respect, it is clean and comfortable. The rooms are very small and the bathroom is smaller but, for the price, it's a great place to stay in a pricey city. Ubahn connections are about 5 minutes away and busses and trams are easy to find as well. Located in an inexpensive neighbourhood, youncan grab a coffee and a croissant for around euro 1,50. If you want the full breakfast, the continental at the hotel (5 euros) is an excellent deal. Get there early when the buns are still warm. Nice selection of cheese, meats, jams, yogurt, cereal, and LOTS of coffee!

Time From TXL to Hotel
The distance was advestised as 2.8 miles from TXL. At 11PM: Transportation by bus and undergound took to get there was: Bus - 24 minutes, underground - 3 minuties, and walking 7minutes. Plus wait times fthe duration was about an hour. About the same on return the next morning at 8AM

Easy Stay
The location worked well for the locations we wanted to visit in Berlin. the U-Bahn is a ten minute walk for the hotel. The hotel worked in the simplest of it form - a place to sleep. The beds were comfy and welcoming. The lack of outlets in the room was an issue, but other then that, the room was fine. The breakfast was a bit under my expectations, but did the job.

Steps hotel is very close to u bahn, but very far from ANYTHING. there are a lot of cheap eats during the day and near markets. Rooms are clean. Dorm style but you get your own private room like a hotel. Staff is nice. Wifi connection not great but functional.it is cost effective accommodation.

Visited Berlin with my family to run the annual marathon.Stayed at steps - a nice, clean value-for-money hotel. 5 min walk from Berlins well connected U-bahn. Friendly staff did deliver spot on expected service!

Clean and friendly staff. However, when we arrived, they changed the hotel rate and asked us to pay more than what we got through hotels.com. No air conditioning nor fan. Told by the locals that the place is not a good place and there are plenty of other hotels nearby that are much better. Very far from tourist attractions but 5 min walk to subway station.

Overall, Steps hotel was a good budget hotel, especially for a family of 5. It did seem that the hotel may have been designed for shared rooms with hostelers, but it was clean and functional, and they made an extra effort to welcome our children. The reception staff were lovely and helpful. the cab ride to tegel airport was about 15 minutes, so convenient for an early morning flight out. It is in an interesting, somewhat gentrifying area of Berlin, and the restaurant down the street was fabulous - extensive vegetarian and vegan menu. If your budget is limited, this is a good place. It's important not to expect a typical hotel environment, as this seems like it was likely initially envisioned for a hostel, but we felt it was a good choice for the money.

The service is amazing, very friendly and helpful. Brilliant people own this place, very relaxed. Rooms are standard and clean. Good location from Tegel Airport and less than 5 minutes from U6 and U9 underground as well as some trams i can't remember. Good few restaurants, shops, and markets in the area open until late. Would recommend.

We had booked a double room with private bathroom. But we were given a twin room with separate beds. The reception staff told us that they do not have any double room - only twin rooms. The description in the hotels.com website did not say anything about this. We had to request them to shift the beds together. It is just an average budget hotel. Don't expect any service. The reception is 24-hr. Breakfast starts 7am. The location is very good. U-Bahn station Seestr. and Nauenerplatz and Tram Stop Osram Hoeffe are within 7 min walking distance. Quiet peaceful neighbourhood. Breakfast was ok - enough options in the menu to choose from. No lift - only stairs. Room was spacious and clean. Bathroom was clean and big. The wooden floor of the room creaked a lot. Has a restaurant and bar attached. Staff was helpful.
