Central Hotel is located on the U6 BVG metro line. Work is being done on the U Holzerhausen Station but there are frequent shuttle buses that take you to Kurt Schumacher station where you transfer from the bus to the Underground metro train. It takes about 30 minutes to get into town. The hotel provides a nice breakfast. There are about a dozen free parking spaces on the hotel property, on a first come first served basis. Free street parking is a backup plan if all the hotel parking spaces are occupied. I stayed for a week and had a wonderful time in Berlin.

pleasant stay
All in all, an adequate stay with simple and clean facilities. The room could use some upgrading, especially in the bathroom. The hotel has a good breakfast. The service is very good. A good hotel with a fair price for what it offers.

Kein Kühlschrank. Lebensmittel beim Frühstück werden vom Personal mit der Hand angefasst. Duscharmatur war unsauber. Temperatur im Zimmer war sehr warm.

Worst experience. Far from the city centre and the area around the hotel did not feel safe at all. Used old fashioned keys where the lock was always jammed. The toilet never flushed and there were bed bugs all over the bed. The workers hardly spoke English and the food at breakfast was all stale. The walls were not soundproof and you could hear neighbouring rooms also having trouble with jammed doors at every hour. Nothing positive about this place at all, do not reccomend. As a woman who was travelling solo, i was shocked i made it out of there alive

Dear guest,We are very sorry that our house did not meet your expectations. Before you booked our house you could have found out about the distance to the city center. In no way do we advertise that we are close to the city. We can't comment on the subject of security - so far, no guest has had a problem in our area. Our rooms are cleaned daily, so the toilets are also flushed. We strongly disagree with your accusation that there were bed bugs everywhere. This is in no way based on reality and is an incredible claim.

The location of the hotel is not a typical holiday location: In the backyard, you find the tram station, in the front the Tegel jail (JVA Tegel). The hotel itself could definitely use an update, but don't let yourself bother by this description: The personal is friendly, the parking is for free (but limited; anyway, in Berlin use the public transport and not your car!), the jail itself is also worth a look. Behind it, there is a park; on the Bernauer Straße you will find a supermarket with good quality food. The price for the rooms is ok for Berlin. I had some allergy problems probably because there were feathers in the pillow. The room itself is very clean, the bathroom, too. The flushing did not work (room 228), but I will inform the manager. Very convenient: The tram station is behind the hotel; you have to walk only some seconds from hotel lobby to the station; you have really good connections to the town. In my room, working was not really easy as it is really small. WiFi is free.

Not really close to the airport via public transportation as implied by Expedia. Breakfast was good. Loud outside but building was well insulated with windows closed. Property is dated and no frills. Very convenient to train station.

We really enjoyed staying in Central Hotel. This is an older hotel built in what was then East Berlin. Staying there is experiencing a snapshot of time out of the 50s. I thought it was fascinating, like going to Venice. You don't go to Venice to be pampered, you go there to see a different way of life. The hotel is located right next to a taxi stand and the subway. We walked to an Aldi's grocery store two blocks away. The breakfast was plentiful, with eggs, cereals, sausages, yoghurts, fruits and two baskets of fresh breads. The hotel is older, but it has lots of character and everything was sparkling clean. I enjoy staying in older homes and hotels. This hotel is like a glimpse into a different world.

Nice but basic hotel near the U6
This was my second stay at Central Hotel. Both times I found the hotel to be basic but comfortable, with an excellent breakfast. During my last stay, the internet was not working for the first part of my stay but was fixed later and worked well for the duration. The hotel is close to shopping and restaurants a short walk away, and is very close to the U-Bahn station, which is the primary reason why I selected the hotel. However, the hotel does not accept American Express, so plan ahead if using this card for business.

Basic hotel, only for one night
I stayed at this hotel as I needed to catch an early flight. Otherwise I would not chose to stay there. The room was cold and bland, tiny TV, no hair dryer. Rooms were tidy, but you could hear people at the corridor, not good door isolation. Breakfast was very basic, there was not even coffee. Otherwise parking was ok, slept alright.

So perfect for an early morning flight. Staff were wonderful. 15€ taxi to tegel airport.right next to Ubahn 6 line.15min to friedrichstrasse station which is near the river. Decent breakfast that starts at 4:30am so we could get something to take with us.

It was adequate
The hotel allows smoking in the rooms, so it stinks. It's conveniently located near a train station, but that makes it a little noisy. The room was clean and we just needed a place to sleep and charge our phones, so it worked for our needs. There is no onsite parking, so keep that in mind. I think the best thing about the room was the döner stand right outside. Those guys were great. We enjoyed a beer and döner before bed.

Great for a short stay, close to the airport.
Finding the hotel was tricky, with the reception on the side street. The parking across the street was a worry, as it meant taking in all luggage. The breakfast buffet was excellent, something for everyone. I slept well, and it served my needs. Not a resort by any stretch of the imagination.

The room smelled like sewage and urine. It was so incredibly hot in there that you had to have the window open, issue here is that the street is so loud with traffic so sleeping was not easy. The bed was not comfortable. Location was good though.

DECENT PLACE FOR A QUICK STAY
Had to spend an overnight due to a flight layover. About a 15 Euro taxi ride from airport (apps 5 minutes). Good breakfast. A good place just to sleep and wash up.

Terrible place even if you're a smoker...
Non-smoking room was on a smoking floor smalling like a dutch coffee shop. The room had smoke still standing in the air making breathing difficult. No WIFI in the room, the heating did not work although it was winter time. Hotels.com charged more for teh room than advertised and are reluctand to help when sending them a complaint email. Room was advertised with lightproof curtains but they were not. Staff was very friendly but couldnt help much.

The proximity to Tegel is a real plus with this hotel, and there's a taxi stand right outside the front door; being cheap, I took the U-Bahn and then a bus to the airport for €2.70, and that worked perfectly. The facility is in desperate need of an upgrade; everything reeks of the '60s if not the late '50s. In the morning, the lobby turns into the place to gather your breakfast food; there is a separate room with tables and chairs for eating. The internet access, for me, never functioned properly, so that was an unwanted inconvenience. The bedroom was unrelievedly dark.

Good but need goods.
Just 30 seconds walk from subway station. 20 minutes to Berlin central station. 20 minutes to the airport. Perfect place to stay. The room is clean and nice hotel staff. The hotel has minimum equipment. No air conditioner, no coffee makers. They will rent hair dryer on request. Not recommended at summer hot season, but highly recommended after mid September.
