Kampen Hotel

"I was a little skeptical at first because this hotel had one of the lowest rates I could find in Oslo that day, especially compared with other hotels, but overall I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed, including a small balcony. The shower was very good with consistently hot water, which I really appreciated. I didn’t try the breakfast because I personally prefer to have breakfast outside and interact with local people, so I can’t comment on that. The location is also very convenient, only about two stops from Oslo Central Station, with downtown around 10 minutes away or even less. The train station is very close, and there are plenty of restaurants and activity around the hotel, so the area feels lively. Overall, for the price I paid, I think it was very good value and a convenient place to stay in Oslo"

"The hotel room was clean and tidy. The breakfast was outstanding. It was very convent to get to from the airport - one fast train. The only thing that might be a problem for elderly or handicabable was the uneven hallways probably from the remodel of an old building."

"Excellent location. parking (450NOK!) was right next to hotel. Breakfast wide range with onsite chefs and barista. Two things - only noticed this website says contact hotel if arriving after 9pm. I read this at 855pm knowing we werent getting there until 1130pm. Seemed very strange as i thought this was a big international hotel! I could not get ANYONE at the hotel to answer the phone..it was a ghost town - worrying - so called airport clarion who had a private line...they called on my behalf and a staffmember then called me back. It IS a VERY BIG hotel, there are always staff onsite I cant see why contacting before 9pm was necessary. They just dont seem to answer the phone. Secondly - we booked the corner junior suite. The pictures are deceiving. Most of the walls hidden by curtains are in fact walls not windows. And there is a very strange diagonal wall separating the bed from the cramped little seating area. There is a big walk in hall. So although measurements sound like a big room, its dark and space is pretty unusable and probably not worth the extra money. And rooms must face the harbour and the opera house but we got the trams on the main road starting early. So maybe make a special request to not be on that side of building."

"It’s great! However, you have to remember many rules while there. I noticed a little double standard when it comes to phone usage. We spent a full week at the property and we felt policed about phone usage 24/7, when to use the swimsuit, when not to use the swimsuit, when to use the towel, when not to use the towels, which stairs I am allowed to use and which I am not allowed to use. The spa police will get into the steam room and sauna and make you get naked if you are wearing the swimsuit. The excuse was that wearing the swimsuit will place the chlorine on the wood as well as the sweat and that’s why you must lay the towel down and then be naked on top of the towel. However, magically on Tuesdays that’s not a problem at all. You can wear the swimsuit in the sauna and spa no problem as long as the towel is under you. We were stopped by multiple people multiple times just for the simple act of looking at our phone to see what time it is. There aren’t many clocks around the spa, therefore, we had to see the time on our phones to not loose track of time. Furthermore, at breakfast there were 4 people using their phones making calls, sending texts and browsing through their phones and not one word was said to them. I recommend the spa for one day only as I had used it in the past, but for a full week I don’t think this is the place you want to be specially when you don’t want to be bossed around of what you can or can not do as as small child. All else was great, good food!"
