The location of property is great for tourism however the condition of building is not suitable to use for hotel and not safe at all to stay or sleep, the building is too old and the stairs are way dangerous to use. For the cleaning I don’t need to say much as it can be seen in other reviews how dirty it is. staff I don’t know her name but she speaks Arabic and wear scarf she was highly rude to my family and disrespected us so badly. I am traveling very often and visited most of the world, I promise staying in this place was the worst experience of my life and don’t recommend it to anyone!!! Even if they offer me to stay there for free I would never to that mistake again.

I stayed here two years ago and loved it. I had a tiny room but it had character. The staff was unbelievably kind and the breakfast was wonderful. This time was nothing like my first experience. This time, my room was a 6 foot by 20 foot room with nothing but a single bed, tiny mirror and unplugged refrigerator. To get checked in, I had to figure out on my own that I had to go to another hotel, climb steep steps, check in, go back to my hotel, climb steep steps to get to my room. To check out I had to go back to that other hotel. Very confusing and inconvenient. There was nothing enjoyable about this hotel experience. Not sure why they charge so much money for these basic conditions.

Room not as advertised, dirty, lights not working, missing furniture communal area has an unpleasant smell. No double glazing and windows were poorly fitting led to a cold and very loud room. Also some very suspect stains on pillows and fraying towels - only given 1 towel between 2 people.

Waivered between 2 and 3 stars- the room was weird. The bed was 2 twin matresses shoved together so we had to keep pushing the bed back together. The 4 flights of stairs are killer and the room had a weird wet metal smell. The first night was freezing and the second was boiling hot. The walls are so thin that we could hear other people in other rooms using their bathrooms. The tv only showed 4 channels and 2 of them were just dutch radio DJs doing their jobs live and one was the same Christmas concert on repeat. Okay enough but in my 4th trip to the city i would book elsewhere.

There was a lot of female hair in the bed, the room had a very damp smell that lingered, the bathroom had no light switch leaving the extractor fan on all night long & to top it all off there were mice running around my room.

Area was good for this hotel. Hotel has treacherous stairs..could not imagine what you'd do with large luggage, there is no elevator. We struggled with our small carryons. The front desk staff will not help you with your luggage. Luggage storage is available but it is not locked in any way. The room was dirty, hair still in one of the beds but we couldn't switch rooms because there was two another available with enough beds. Bathroom is dirty and they don't refill the soap when they do the daily cleaning

The hotel is very, very dated. In desperate need of decoration and modernisation. The stairs are very steep which I appreciate is a common feature of Amsterdam buildings but are dangerous for the young and elderly

The hotel was in the same group as Mr Jordaan, which is excellent, so we expected something of similar quality. Alas, it wasn't. We were not aware in advance that access was only up a steep,narrow staircase - 37 steps, no lift. Staff were not helpful or understanding. The bed was comfortable, but teh ensuite poor, and ventilation availabe only through a full height french window onto a scruffy balcony, overlooking a main road. The location is convenient - easy walking from Centraal station - and there is a reasonalbe private cafe below for a light breakfast.

I’m a solo female traveller and the lock on my main door AND the balcony door was broken so felt extremely uneasy. Luckily I carry my own locks, but this is still unacceptable. Rooms were dirty and lobby area filled with broken equipment. Noise carries easily and could hear people moving and doors slamming all through the night which adds to feeling unsafe. Don’t think I slept at all. Would never stay here again

Needs some work, very steep stairs to access the higher rooms, if you have trouble with stairs we would not recommend this hotel, the room we stayed in was ok, but there was some issues. Such as a broken toilet seat and the bathroom door did not shut properly, they would really improve the experience with small tweaks, such as USB chargers in the bed light fixtures, token water bottles and face clothes.

The amazing reception staff were exceptional in the dleivery of customer service. They were kind and accomodating and went out of their way to make my stay as comfortable as possible. No matter the time of day or who was at the counter, the level of service was friendly, interractive, informative and helpful.

The bathroom setup was not good as the entire bathroom floor was wet after showering. The wood on the interior of the door was warping. The bathroom smelled very mildewy after showering. The room and interior of the hotel definitely need upgrading.

Please not not stay at this hotel. When we arrived we found bed bugs under the sheets. There was hairs on the mattress, dust around the floors and the room did not look like what was advertised.

Location is great, room was tired and needed love but not dirty. Balcony was cool but could use a tidy. Staff were friendly and price was great. You know what your getting for the price, if you want a well located base it’s ideal. If you spend lots of time in the room, maybe not your best choice. Stairs are full on but it’s clearly advertised.

This is a HOSTEL, not a hotel. Zero amenities, our TV didn't work (when we asked someone to look at it twice, they just left a remote in the room - that's right, remotes don't come standard), and a teeny tiny room with questionable cleanliness (but clean enough - at least someone made an attempt before we checked in). Very clearly a family run business churning out tourists in tiny rooms. Still, the staff was very nice and you can't beat the location. We had a good experience but felt the whole place was a little sketchy - only a gut feeling, we had nothing negative occur. Yes the steps are steep, the room is small, the room cards just have a number sharpied on them... but it was fine. Wouldn't go back, but not mad at it for what it is.

This is NOT a Hotel. This is a HOSTAL!!! The photos of this hotel are definitely NOT how the hotel actually looks. The hotel is old, is dirty and has weird smell. You can feel/see the staff is frustrated of the bad quality of the hotel and the negative feedback they receive from travelers. The room is "cleaned" but it had trash from previous travelers and I'm sure they do not change the sheets. I would definitely NOT recomm this place... The location is good, the price is good but you risk a really bad experience. This hostal is really really bad... The day I arrived I started reading comments from previous travelers (my bad, I should have done this before booking) and freaked out... tried booking in another hotel and realized I could find similar prices in much much much better hotels... I would def not recomm this place... it needs to be deep cleaned and checked by government officials as it really shouldn't be called a hotel, it's a HOSTAL (and a really bad one)

The place was very convenient, and seemed safe, but it was a bit sparse. Pretty much just the basics. Very small room, and incredibly small bathroom. Shower had no curtain and soaked most of the bathroom with water that went to a central drain. We had an odd sewer-gas type smell in our bathroom that didn't ever go away. However, the hotel is just a few block outside the very central section of the city, and only two blocks to Anne Frank House, Dam Square, and plenty of nice places to eat. There is a good bakery just a few doors down for coffee in the morning, and a decent Italian restaurant on the corner. This is a "I just want the basics" hotel, and good way to save money to go spend in your time in the city. You'll need it, since you won't really want to spend free time in your room.

1* at BEST
The best thing about the room was the toilet flush button. The odour was horrendous even with the window open and nothing like the photos. This should be the last place you stay, would rather have slept on a park bench. We actually took all our clothes out our bags to cover the surface of the bed and slept under our bathroom towels! Don’t do it, spend the money and stay somewhere nice so you can enjoy an amazing place.
