"Magical place, truly. Staying in a place with this much history and charm (dates back to 550AD!) that has been renovated to such a high level whilst still retaining lots of its original features and charm was a joy to experience. Lovely staff, great food. 10/10. Will be back for sure."

"My room was cold and damp - clean but as said cold - I was offered an alternative that was equally cold - then offered a heater to help that was better - but heating was turned off overnight with the outside temperature being zero degress therefore it was cold in the morning - was glad i could put the alternative heater on - overall not ideal and uncomfortable because of the cold, which was throughtout the property! One member of staff was very helpful (cannot remember her name) - breakfast staff were very slow and not attentive at all, quality of the breakfast was poor."

"Excellent breakfast choice good quality breakfast. Very relaxing stay. Staff excellent. We had an upgraded room really enjoyed our stay. We were with friends we had drink from the bar both afternoons and dined in the evening in hotel. It was our second visit to the hotel for the weekend and will return next year."

"To be fair, this is apparently one of the oldest pubs in the area so it's dated interior kept with the theme. The staff were friendly but you might have to wait for service at the bar or restaurant, or reception. The bar - ran out of draught cider (on an early Friday evening) The restaurant ran out of sirloin on an early yes you guessed it Friday evening. There was a definite whiff of ganja on the 1st floor accomodation hallway. The room was small, hot and the bed had an extremely soft mattress. The shower unit in the bathroom didn't have any complimentary shower gel but did have hand soap for the sink. Also the shower head only offered a Japanese needle shower setting of 5 or 6 jets maybe more either way the accupuncture from them was probably beneficial? Parking was ok but tight. Morning breakfast was served (no self service choice) and the bacon was extra salty. All in all, we'll book elsewhere in future. "

"This is a great property, spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Also in beautiful surroundings….so why not 5 stars? I was here for three nights so the “cons” outweighed the “pros” for me. Firstly, it was (and still is) advertised as having FREE WIFI. This is important to me as I was here for work and need internet access when I’m working away. Reality - there is no internet! I did find an EE mobile wifi router in one of the kitchen drawers, but once I switched it on and connected to it, I was directed to an EE webpage prompting me to register a credit/debit card and pay to top up the data on the SIM card, as there was only 0.01 mb of data allowance left on it. Not impressed with false advertising. Secondly, hot water. Reality - there were two choices of water temperature for the shower. Lukewarm & cold. The same applied to the other hot water taps in the property. I like a hot shower & I like to wash my hands and dishes in hot water. I presume this had been turned down at the boiler but I had no access to it to turn it up. Not impressed. Thirdly, heating. Neither of the bedroom radiators worked. The hallway radiator was full of air (only the bottom inch getting hot). I dare not bleed it as I presumed it was a sealed system and I didn’t have access to top up the system pressure. Fortunately the bathroom and lounge radiators were fine so was able to keep the chill off the bedroom by leaving the doors open. Beautiful place but won’t be back!"
