Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge
10/10 Excellent
"We had a lovely, clean double queen room. Building was clean but appeared to be getting some renovations. We enjoyed meals in both dining lodges, the campfires in the evening, a guided nature walk, a Denali climber presentation and hiking to the treehouse. This lodge has one of Alaska’s best views of Mount Denali. "
"It is the best cabin Lodge we’ve ever stayed. The host welcomed to us at the gate. It’s a huge botanical garden with beautiful flowers. Cabins are scattered individually in different styles, so quiet in peaceful. I would like to stay more days if I had not booked next hotel."
"I highly recommend this property for a family. We stayed with our family of four in the Hunter cabin. It was recently renovated, very clean, and well maintained. The beds and pillows were newer too. It had four twin beds upstairs and a queen bed in the downstairs area. The cabin also had a fully stocked kitchen with a stove top, mini fridge, and microwave. (Note: There is a grocery store at the turn off of 3 to Talkeetna, but it is quite expensive. If you plan to cook, I’d buy most of the food in Anchorage and any forgotten items there.) The property is very peaceful. I sat on the porch each morning with a cup of coffee and enjoyed the cool weather and quiet. The property is about 2.5 hours from Anchorage, Denali, and Palmer making is a good jump off point for a lot of things to do in the area. The cabins are also a 5 minute walk to Main Street. The only negative is the train track across the highway. The train whistle sounded at 11pm and 4:30am daily. It’s not a knock on the property because you probably hear it no matter where you stay in the area. I would definitely stay here again. "
"Lovely home, was so comfortable and homey, felt I was on a retreat. Everything you need to be comfortable. I would stay here again but would stay longer. "
"Our stay at the lodge was amazing. The property is beautiful. Would like to give a shoutout to Melissa and Vanessa behind the desk. They went above and beyond to help us during our stay. Also Darren and Spencer in the bar weee amazing. One more shout out to Tristan for our fun shuttle rides. "
"It’s so charming and right in the heart of town. Built in 1923, it’s small and old but really cool. It is over the tavern and you can hear the noise. No band tonight though. Ear plugs are provided. You share the two bathrooms amongst the 6 or 7 rooms but we haven’t had a problem with that. We would definitely come here again."
You can take time to visit Walter Harper Talkeetna Ranger Station during your travels to Talkeetna. Stroll along the lakeside or discover the area's mountain views.
