"Check in very slow checked in on line so no hassle but you try find room 422 out of 2-3 big buildings without cueing up to ask which took half hour as very slow at reception
Don’t glasses in room or fridge as I’m guessing they want you to drink at the bar and at there prices can see why one rum and coke and a wine £18.18 was not told the swimming pool and spa was not included in room price £117 fir one night so that was another £24 for a few hours fir two of us
As you walk in restaurant there’s a sign saying egg on toast or porage pancakes lighter breakfast is £5 so walked over to ask for this and was told no don’t do this £33 fur a full English or nothing
Everything you did seemed like they were trying to take as much money as possible with out really doing a lot my view any way lovely buildings and surroundings pond out the front is nice would nit stop again unfortunately "
"Superior room? Needs updating, couldn't close the bathroom door, which is also tiny, not enough room to swing a cat.
As there are fridges in the room, fresh milk would be nice"
"Room was very old and outdated. Dust was on most surfaces. The walls were so thin. We were woken at 5:45am with a neighbour snoring and we could also hear when they used the bathroom! For a surprise 50th birthday stay it was very disappointing. Pictures on the web do not give a good representation."
"It’s an expensive novelty, it’s comfortable and in a good location.
Would have been good to have some historical information on the walls and made more of the fact that it is a very old prison."
"To be honest, I was extremely disappointed with my stay. My room was located in an outbuilding called The Paddocks, around a 500‑metre walk from the main hotel — not ideal, especially in bad weather.
The room itself was in desperate need of updating. The carpet felt dirty, the bathroom was in a poor state, the wooden windows wouldn’t shut properly, and the door rattled constantly throughout the night.
Overall, the standard fell well below expectations, and I won’t be staying at this hotel again."
"Voco is a nice hotel, however it is quite a walk to the centre of Oxford and not really centel as it might claim. I was dissapointed with the cost of parking even though there is lots of parking available and Voco is very expensive you still had to pay more for parking and the EV charging was also very expensive."
"Our third stay and it’s just a fantastic time every time. Cozy, authentic. Great bathrooms and showers, thick fluffy towels, very quiet — it feels like you’re staying in a wealthy friend’s manor house. So amazing to stay in a luxury hotel that’s not become corporate and impersonal."
