Amazing staff, great location, clean, modern and convenient. Great Hotel!
My experience at the Sofia Hotel was wonderful. It was my first time to San Diego. The hotel is very conveniently located on Broadway. MTS Bus 992 departs from the airport every 15 minutes, drops you right in front of the hotel. Fare $2.25. The hotels location is fantastic. The best thing about the hotel is its staff. I have nothing but the best to say about their staff. They are incredibly nice, welcoming and accommodating. I have special word of praise for Matt at the front desk. Really nice guy, extremely helpful, thoughtful and went out of this way to help. I went to SD for the weekend to escape from NYCs weather. I wanted to go running for about 20 miles. I mentioned this to Matt upon check-in. To my surprise, he printed maps, routes, devised some options for me to cover about 20 miles the next morning. The next day he checked how it went. Through out the stay he was really friendly (like a buddy) and very forthcoming with assistance and advice. Go Matt!!!! I must also mention Gabriel at the Concierge Desk. Another really nice guy and very knowledgable. He is very engaging and gave me great advice what to do and see and cover over my short stay and also helped me find vegan restaurants in SD. The entire staff was just amazing and wonderful. A special mention for Mark - the massage therapist. Great massage!! Thanks Mark! The hotel is modern, clean and very comfortable. I loved it there and if I ever return, I will be at the Sofia.

A Revisit To The Wonderful Downtown Area of San Diego
My husband and I have been away from California for Seven years. I t had always been a delight to visit the wonderful Gaslight Distract and the Harbor area for the wonderful restaurants and shopping. Our location gave us the opportunity to walk to all the above locations and to visit the Mall. The Sofia Hotel was beyond our expections of a renovated very historic hotel. The lobby gave us a welcoming feeling with the ambiance of the fireplace and beautifully restored lobby. The room was decorated with the highest quality materials and made good use of the small rooms in this early 2oth hotel. There was also the bar area with a hidden microwave and refrigerator.

Charming and comfortable
We stayed in a suite because the rooms were small. It was very cozy and extremely conveniently located. We walked to the Maritime Museum, to the Balboa Theatre and Horton Plaza was quite close. We even went on the hotels complimentary tour of the Gas Lamp district. The concierge was helpful with good restaurant suggestions and rainy day activities.
