Property overall was definitely two star. I was fine with that except air conditioning was advertised on the site. There is no air conditioning! Instead I found the window open and a ton of mosquitoes in the room. I informed Expedia and the hotel staff. Otherwise it was a walkable location, staff were pleasant, there were restaurants around the area.

Not good choice
The staffs are willing and friendly. Room is very small and noisy. Stay in the ground floor couldn’t sleep due to other customers open the front door very hard and noisily, you can hear the sound from vehicles, other people go across and stop there to talk, even you can hear the sound from other toilets, bathrooms in upstairs when the other customers go back hotel at midnight and use them!!! Moving to the room in the upstair is the same noisy sound from other rooms when they go home late at midnight. The stairs is small, narrow and dangerous to move.

Honest opinion
The room was as expected, the service was great. There's no cleaning during your stay at all and if you want anything you have to go or call the reception. The water pressure is so low you can wait forever to get wet in the shower, but overall it was fine. The location in fantastic in my opinion, not too close to the center so you can get a good night sleep but close enough to walk anywhere you'd like in 20 min tops. There are a fee restaurants and coffee places just under the hotel which is great.

There is a reason this is more inexpensive than surrounding hotels. This place is fine for what you pay for but I wouldn’t suggest staying here if you do t have to and if you need to don’t stay more than a day or 2.

Be aware, there is no elevator in the property and no AC! So if you have a heavy bag, be prepared to bring it up, or you need to ask the front desk staff to help you. They say they have the AC controlled, but I didn't even see a vent in the room for the AC. Luckily, it wasn't too hot at night during my stay because I couldn't even keep the window open because there is a restaurant/bar below that is open quite late. They actually put me in a different hotel, THC Hotel, which is owned by the same property. The room was ehh... okay at best. There was carpet in my room (not shown in the picture of the hotel photos) and it was absolutely atrocious. It was a puke brown carpet color that had permanent stains all over. Also, the room had an odd smell/scent to it. Like someone had smoked cigarettes inside. I had to open the little window to let the room air out a bit. In all honestly, it felt like 1st class prison cell. Staff was nice and helped me bring up my bags. Location was also really great, and there is a metro right outside the property. Do with this information what you will, but I probably would have paid a little extra next time to stay somewhere a bit more nicer, but I booked last minute, so I didn't have many options.

Reasonable value for money
Given its location, this hotel offers reasonable value for money. But in the building where my room was located, the stairs were very steep, especially to the second floor. Difficult for those over 70! The room was small but the facilities were clean. There were plenty of good places to eat close to the hotel.

I had a great stay just 2 things i had a problem with. The stairs leading to the room was short and steep just a trip on them would seriously hurt you.The last thing was the brightness of the room and building.It was dark.The small window at the back didnt really help with brightening it up. Just a bit of paint to brighten the entire building would make a great change to it.

Checked in at the ict hotel but stayed in the townhouse hotel which was not a good experience, steps were extremely steep and dangerous, with hand rails that didn’t even reach to the end of the stairs, got a change of hotel room next day but one of the mattresses was faulty and didn’t get what we paid for, thank goodness Amsterdam itself was a lovely place, emailed them 3 times to inform them of our experience and they did not respond

We found a note on the door to go across the road to ITC Hotel. Townhouse is basically 3 old separate homes transformed into 3 separate hotels. Rooms are small but clean. I found the place a bit too dark and tiny for my taste, but comfortable.

one of the strangest hotels I have been in - shower in bathroom beside toilet (with no separation). Stairs treacherous - advertised internet but service sketchy. Amsterdam is expensive this time of year, but there was not much value here. It did, however, have a reasonably good location (not too far from dam square and central station)

Canal House
Traditional Canal House looks amazing from the outside. No Elevator and VERY Steep stair cases -so stay here if you have med to large or heavy luggage. Linens did appear clean and bath towels were the size of hand towel! Make sure you have a toilet and shower inside your room and not Sharing it - out in the hall. No air conditioning. Room for two people on the bottom floor can go from nice to so small there isn't a place to set your luggage inside the room. Great place if your other option was a hostel. Over priced, Noisy,do I need to continue? Looks Nothing like the pictures in the info.

Hotel? More like hostel!
Having backpacked throughout Asia, I am used to uncomfortable. While the cleaners were lovely and helpful, all else was terrible. I have seen small bathrooms bigger than the room we stayed in. Can’t believe they charge what they do for that shoebox! Thin walls, creaky floors, poor quality shower, no space to walk comfortably in your room, another even smaller shoebox was the storage space you are given, loud guests, heater which isn’t that great, is backed up on the mattress and covered by curtains (safety hazard!). Should have stayed in the hostels.

OK Hotel on Prinzengracht
I chose this hotel because it was the cheapest place I could find that was located reasonably close to the major sites in Amsterdam but that still had a private bathroom. My room was clean and comfortable, although the walls were thin as I could hear everything going on in the other hotel rooms on the floor as well as in the adjacent building. The staff were all very friendly, particularly the cleaning staff who helped me find my room when I went to the wrong building (some rooms are in two other buildings separate from the hotel lobby). The hallways in my building appeared to be under renovation so there was a lot of dust on the bottom two floors, with dustmats placed along the stairwell. One major downside is that the hotel did not supply soap or shampoo in the bathroom. Overall, an ok hotel if you want a bed and private bathroom and want to be in a reasonably central location. However, while Amsterdam is expensive, there are probably better value hotels out there.

the photos online made it look a lot better than it was. it was fine for the short stay and we got lucky that they upgraded our room otherwise we were going to have a communal bathroom.

The BEST Solo Getaway Hotel in Amsterdam!
My stay at the Townhouse/ITC Hotel in Amsterdam was great! The staff are extremely friendly and very helpful! I hired a bike from the hotel itself for 15 euros for an entire day and was extremely happy that I did most of the city by bike! The bed was so comfortable, sleep came easy!

Two night stay in Amsterdam. Purpose to visit local breweries and hang out with the locals. Hotel is near great pubs and restaurants right across a tram stop. Hotel is way too small for the price. No lighting in the 'restroom'.

This should not be listed as a hotel. It should be classified as a hostel. My wife and I booked a double room and ended up with bunk beds. Our shared bathroom was the size of a closet. As well, so was the one shared shower for the entire building. It wasn't until we complained that they "upgraded" us to what we had originally booked online. Staff seemed irritated, unfriendly and unwelcoming. Avoid at all costs.

The hotel was in a great location for exploring Amsterdam - very easy to get to from the central station. It would have been helpful to have directions by tram to get there. Only thing that wasn't great was the carpet was very old and in need of replacement - I didn't like walking on it with bare feet.

Having booked the Town House I expected to stay there as I had researched on the map and it looked in a good position for relative peace and quiet. However having only booked a single room I was initially given a very disappointing room in the basement of a separate building with a small, opaque, unopenable window and barely 3 metres from the rumbling tramline. To the hotel's credit they responded very well to my complaint about not having booked that building and upgraded me to a twin room at the Town House building at no extra charge. This room was fine by Amsterdam hotel standards and prices. Thank you Town house but please make it clear to future customers that they may not be placed where they have booked.

It was really fantastic to stay in Townhouse hotel. It is like you have your own charming attic. Plus, you can walk to almost every famous spot in Amsterdam from the hotel, and the breakfast served by the hotel is SUPER AWESOME! (+ STAFFS WORKING THERE SUPER NICE TOO)

Good location, slightly misleading
I booked the Townhouse hotel and did note that we had to check in at ITC across the canal. The reception was absolutely lovely - a very cheerful blonde Dutch woman who took it upon herself to circle a few sights and restaurants around the area. However when time came to check into our room a few hours later, we weren't led to the Townhouse at all - but their third hotel on the Utrechtstraat, 30 seconds away. It's my fault that I didn't print out the full details of the room I had booked, so unfortunately it wasn't until after we left that I realised we had basically been downgraded/misled because the room we were given did not have a lot of the extra comfort facilities listed in the room details: tea/coffee facilities, hair dryer, fax (not that we need it, but still), climate control. Housekeeping had also failed to give us shampoo/soap. We had to go back to the ITC to request the toiletries and hairdryer (with a 10 euro deposit) because the phone in the room has no details on how to contact reception. I certainly would advise everyone to have full details of their room ready and demand a discount/change of room if they do not live up to it. I felt like I had paid over the odds (and I had paid upfront as well). Please also take note that in our room, there was a sign on the door that said guests must settle the bill 24 hours before checking out - not sure if they will tell you this if you choose not to pay upon arrival. With all this said, the hotel was in a trendy location and we enjoyed heading to the nearby De Koffie Salon and Two for Joy cafés for morning coffee, and Prisengracht is one of the prettiest canals to walk down in Amsterdam. The rooms are small and the stairs are steep, but this is to be expected. We didn't have any problem with cleanliness. However due to the misleading room allocation I'm not sure I would stay again.

If youre going to stay in Amsterdam then the town house ain't really that bad of a choice. The rooms are kinda small and the stairs are a little on the vertical side but I guess everywhere in Amsterdam is. It is what it is, just a handy old place to get youre head down, wouldn't recommend staying there all day but then again why would you! So much to do within a few mins walk

The Stairs are a Nightmare. When you ve travel with big luggage, you are screwed. The Hotel is in 3 different Houses. I was in all three of them 😪 The Staff is really friendly. The Location is awesome, everything is in a near Range.
