Wicken Trip

The day before our arrival, we were informed to anticipate noise from the nearby train and onsite construction. Would have appreciated learning if that sooner as we would have chosen another place to stay. Can not currently recommend staying there under any circumstances.

Great breakfast, Starbucks serves onsite. Very nice, clean rooms.

This is the 3rd time i've stopped here & each time i say never again, well this time i mean it. The whole hotel is outdated and needs a touch up. The hotel knows this & have even put up posters saying they are aware of this! I mean who does that. They must've had so many people saying the same thing that they decided to put up posters. Our room was acceptable as it was only one night but the stains on the mattress that you could see coming through the sheet were not acceptable. The sealant in the bathroom was also cracking and mouldy and needed a good clean. We checked in & dumped our cases in the room before heading straight out. We returned at 11pm and thought we'd have a quick up of tea before we headed to bed. The only problem was while there were 2 teaspoons and 2 cup coasters there was only one cup. No worries i'll just ring down. The phone didn't work regardless which buttons i pressed so i went to reception. I asked the guy if i could have a cup as there was only one in the room. His reply was no because housekeeping had gone. I mentioned what about room service & the bars that serve hot drinks. He just replied no!! so i went to the bar on the upper floor and one of the bar staff was kind enough to give me a cup With a hotel that is struggling for good reviews & needs doing up you'd think that the staff would be willing to offer the basics at least When i checked out they didn't ask about my stay I think they get too many complaints so they just don't bother now
