Raindeer! They are only on the east coast of Iceland. They were introduced here a few hundred years ago and have done very well. As you see them they are getting rid of their winter coats, white, and trading them in for their summer coats, brown.

This was our favourite stay while in Iceland. The cabins were well stocked and quiet, the right distance from town to feel removed. We were able to cook basic meals and we loved having access to a hot tub and sauna. Wouldn’t change a thing. It was lovely!

Cities near Vallanes

Dettifoss waterfall, one of the most powerful waterfalls in Europe. It was about a half mile walk back to the waterfall and when we were there everything was covered with a pretty thick layer of snow. As we were waking up to the waterfall we saw this complete rainbow stretching across the whole waterfall. A few minutes later, we watched it slowly fade away. Luckily we were able to snap a few pictures before it was gone
