"The Hotel Ballena Ray is a gem. While the overall vibe is laid back, the rooms are perfect for a long stay with kitchenette and other basic amenities. The breakfast is especially wonderful as is the staff. And the pool, though small, is wonderful and has a bar open in the late afternoon and evening. You can swim until 9PM, which is a nice bonus after a long day exploring the surrounding areas of Uvita, Ballena Marine National Park (5 minute walk from the property) and the surrounding areas. Highly recommended."

"What a great stay we had at this beautiful, relaxing place! The owners had clearly put a lot of care into providing for guests needs. Well equipped kitchen. Range of seating on the balcony overlooking the fantastic pool and garden."

"The view was amazing and staff were very friendly. I did not realize that the rooms did not have A/C, so things were hot the first night (reception closed at 8:00), but they were able to get me another fan the second night l, which made things better. Overall, we really enjoyed the stay which included access to a local swimming hole which was very refreshing. The restaurant was the most expensive meal we had in Costa Rica and to be honest, the food was not bad, but not good. Definitely not worth the money spent. We found food more reasonably priced and better tasting outside the resort. I would strongly recommend this site if you want great views, friendly staff, the feeling of being alone, and don’t mind no AC."

"Great little place w 4 cabinas, about 10 minutes walk to the beach. Scott’s a very good guy who can give you whatever info you need. He’s lived there for several years and knows the area well. Very pleasant room w good A/C and ceiling fan. Comfy bed and it’s really nice to have the pool there. It’s also quite safe and secure, and easy walk to several decent restaurants."
